Description

In response to the requests of enthusiasts, we will release a vintage live recording of Neil for the first time in a long time. And if it’s the 1976 tour with Crazy Horse, there’s no doubt about it! Speaking of the 1976 tour, the first thing we remember is the first performance in Japan. Of course, it was a miracle that all the live performances could be enjoyed with high-quality audience recordings at the time, but the fulfilling performances of the Japanese performances, which even the members of Crazy Horse recognized, have earned an unshakable reputation among fans. The successful Japanese performances continued on to the European tour, and although the performances there were of high quality, they were not as well-rounded as the Japanese performances…is that because it was a world tour with a longer schedule than Japan? Or did they get laid back on the days seen in the movie “YEAR OF THE HORSE”? In addition to that impression, the sound sources are not as well-rounded as the Japanese performances, and the situation where they are all of average sound quality may be a negative point. However, there is a place. Even among the European tours, there are audience recordings that are exceptional in both performance and sound quality. This is the Paris performance on March 23rd, which will be released this time. I would like you to listen to the sound quality. In the LP era, the sound image is so strangely on and realistic that it would definitely be mistaken for a “sound board”. And yet the clarity is outstanding. Let’s say that this is a superb recording, different from the many high-quality sound sources produced from Japanese performances. Anyway, the sound is close! The recording tendency is very similar to the superb audience recording of Pink Floyd’s “ANIMALS AUX PARIS”. It is probably recorded with the same taper, and even the live venue is the same. This will allow you to imagine the exceptional quality. The excitement of the surrounding audience is considerable, but what is amazing about this recording is that the performance is not drowned out by those cheers, and the sound image is kept on and vivid to the end. I don’t think there is any other superb sound source like this on the European tour of Neil Young & Crazy Horse. Of course, the sound quality is great, but above all, the performance is also wonderful! In front of such a hot audience, Neil played “Cowgirl In The Sand” on his own for this day only, so there is no doubt that he was pleased with the audience’s reaction. This is a song that was performed with Crazy Horse at the Budokan, but the familiar acoustic arrangement can be enjoyed with superb sound quality, which is a big attraction. But that’s not all, even in the electric part where Crazy Horse joined, they responded to the excitement of the audience with a performance full of spirit. The best performance is “Down By The River”. The magnificent development heard here is as wonderful as the Japanese performance. It is a shocking performance that makes you realize that the wonderful performances were still being shown in Europe. Neil’s intense guitar play was exactly what you would expect from the 1976 tour. If that’s the case, the killer “Like A Hurricane” is also wonderful. It is common knowledge among enthusiasts around the world that this masterpiece was performed every night on the 1976 tour, but the performance of “Like A” at this time was really fulfilling every day, and Neil was burning up on this day as well. A surprising superb sound source has been released from such a 1976 European tour. Pavillon de Paris, Paris, France 23rd March 1976 PERFECT SOUND Disc 1(31:12) 1. Intro 2. Tell Me Why 3.
