Description
This is a 70-minute complete recording of a concert held at the University of Hull in the UK on November 16, 1977, with a high-quality audience recording that was amazing for the time. First, Alan Gowin left the band and the band was a four-piece band. After this, the first album recording lineup, including Neil Murray, who is active in Whitesnake, was included, and it is extremely rare to see a live performance with only four members. And even though the first album was still being recorded and was not yet released, the concert started with “Bryden 2-Step,” which would later be included on the second album, “OF QUEUES AND CURES,” and played a dramatic 10-minute long song. It is interesting that even before Neil left the band, they played many songs from the second album, which he did not participate in. The overall sound balance is good, and you can clearly hear every note of the bass, and Phil’s unique tone of guitar playing is recorded with a strong sound. And the interplay in the last song, “Tenemos Roads,” is simply stunning, the epitome of the Canterbury sound. In addition, a studio live performance recorded at BBC Studios on the same day is also included as a bonus soundboard recording. This is a live performance by a five-person group, with Richard Sinclair of Hatfield & The North at the time participating, and is a super rare recording that has never seen the light of day before, so this is also a must-listen collector’s edition for Canterbury fans. 01.
