Description
MOTLEY CRUE visited Japan in 2011 for their 30th anniversary tour. The first original recording set that conveys the scene is now available. There are two performances included in this work. This is a gorgeous 4-disc set that combines the full audience recording of the “September 29 + 30, 2011: Zepp Osaka” performance. Their Osaka performances are usually held at large venues such as Osaka Castle and Kobe World Memorial Hall, which hold around 10,000 people, but this time was unusual. First, let’s look back at the schedule at that time and check out the structure of this work.・September 28th: Zepp Nagoya ・September 29th: Zepp Osaka ←★Disc 1-2★ ・September 30th: Zepp Osaka ←★Disc 3-4★ ・October 3rd-5th : Zepp Tokyo (3 performances) Total of 6 performances. It was a strangely easy-to-understand schedule, with only Zepp in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka. Among them, there will be two performances in Osaka. This work is a 4-disc set with all of them vacuum-packed from the same recording artist’s collection. What’s more, the recording artist is Mr. “Western Japan’s strongest taper”, who is well known at our store. He is a master of the masters who is always praised as “like a soundboard” and “better sound than the actual scene”, but speaking of 2011, the sound quality and reputation were rapidly increasing. Of course, he had made wonderful recordings even before that, but his batting average for his masterpieces had risen to a new level, perhaps because he had lost all his skin. And this work can also be counted as a masterpiece. The core is extremely thick, the sound has no sense of distance, and even the details are dazzling. The harmonics of the guitar and the undulation of the bass are as vivid and direct as on a sound board, and the drums, which tend to be sparse, are powerful enough to kick your five organs and shake your six senses. And even more than that is Vince Neil’s singing voice. That unique voice seems to cut through the middle of the song, and you can feel not only each word of the lyrics, but also the force of the breath being uttered. The two performances, which were filled with such magical sound, were a paradise of MOTLEY history. Speaking of shows after “SAINTS OF LOS ANGELES”, the standard is the official work “THE END: LIVE IN LOS ANGELES”. Let’s compare and organize them here. ・Brilliant Fury: Live Wire/Too Fast For Love (★) ・Shout At The Devil: Shout At The Devil/Looks That Kill/Too Young to Fall in Love (★) ・Theatre of Pain: Home Sweet Home/Smokin’ In The Boys Room・Girls, Girls, Girls: Wild Side/Girls Girls Girls・Dr. Feelgood: Same Ol’ Situation (S.O.S.)/Don’t Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)/Dr. Feelgood/Kickstart My Hear・Decade of Decadence: Primal Scream・Saints of Los Angeles *Note: Songs marked with “★” are not available on “THE END: LIVE IN LOS ANGELES”. …and it looks like this. The two performances of this work are the same set, but “Too Fast For Love” and “Too Young to Fall in Love” are also performed, and you can clearly see that it is a delicious greatest hits that also incorporates the early mood. What makes this work even more special than the set is the audience’s loud chorus. As mentioned earlier, the performance sound and Vince’s vocals have a glaring sound like a soundboard, but the large chorus that follows it is super realistic and super grand! The audience packed into Zepp’s narrow space was so passionate that one could only wonder, “Are there only maniacs?!” The audience chanted loudly like a storm. Speaking of the power of “Shout! Shout! Shout!”… Be careful here! You might imagine a recording full of screaming, but that’s not the case. There is no near-screaming or correction at all (!). The large chorus is certainly loud and thick, but it feels like it’s approaching from far away on the other side of the band. Of course, common sense suggests that the audience seats should be closer than the band, but (maybe it’s for some reason) it doesn’t sound like that. The 30th anniversary Greatest Hits, the seriousness of the fans crammed into the small venue, and the extremely direct and powerful sound…the dynamism that was possible was born because all of these things came together. Because it is a performance in Japan, it is a transcendent 4-disc set that is overflowing with flavor and spills out because it is from the “strongest” collection.
