Description

THE MOODY BLUES is a traditional band that has been active for over 50 years. Considering their popularity in Japan, unfortunately, it is not expected that they will perform in Japan, but a superb video that will clear up such regret has been decided to be released. This work was filmed at the “Atlantic City performance on July 16, 2010”. Although it is a video from six years ago, it is still known as a “representative video of the 2010s” due to its quality that is the best of the best. In fact, the quality of this work is abnormal. To put it in words, it is “a one-camera distant view of the audience from the back of the venue”, but the quality that you imagine with this word and the actual image are too far apart. Everything is amazing and I’m not sure where to start, but let’s start with the angle. The whole view of the stage is captured from behind the center of the stage, but there is “no audience” in the field of view. I don’t know the details, but judging only by the screen quality, it is probably a camera set up at the venue. Looking directly at the stage through the overhead of the first floor arena, not only was there a shadow in the front row, but it was only reflected for a moment at the bottom of the screen between songs. Whether you zoom in on each member or take a full view, the only thing that jumps into your eye is the band, so it feels almost like a professional shot. And what is surprising about that zoom is the awesomeness of the image quality. The full view is a brilliant digital image, but even if you get as close as possible to the bust, it’s beautiful. From the wrinkles in Justin Hayward’s white shirt to each strand of John Lodge’s curled hair, to the gaze shining through Graham Edge’s glasses, it’s super clear. Now, six years later, the equipment should have improved even more, but the image quality is still so good that it’s rare to see such excellent quality. Furthermore, the smoothness of the zoom movement is amazing. When using a tripod, it tends to be a bit jerky when changing the viewpoint, but it is extremely smooth and there are no sudden swings. It scrolls beautifully without hesitation, as if they had rehearsed the highlights in advance. The whole show is shot with one camera, but the highlight is the multi-camera professional shot. The super beautiful sound is as professional as the visual beauty. I understand that the sound is clear because there is no obstruction, but that alone is not enough. Simply put, it is “like a sound board”, but the more I listen to it, the more I think “Maybe it’s really a sound board!?” The real applause between songs and the natural “ringing” seem to be recorded by microphone, but it is too clear and direct for that. If you are told to “bet on SBD or AUD”, you will be troubled and bet on AUD, but you will get off after all … it is that superb. It’s been a long time with only quality, but what is depicted in such a video and audio is a luxurious set that summarizes the history of the famous band. Since the 90s, it has been limited to one song, “Lean On Me”, and the golden age of “DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED” to “SEVENTH SOJOURN” is the main axis. On top of that, they also play plenty of hit songs from the Patrick Moraz era. Of course, the performance is also excellent. Although they had already been together for 46 years at this time, they have no sense of old-fashionedness at all, and their singing voices and sharpness are superb. I really want to see this performance in Japan… THE MOODY BLUES are now synonymous with British rock. This is a wonderful concert that transforms their long career into maturity, not inertia. This is an excellent video that lets you experience “THE MOODY BLUES live” in ultra-exceptional quality, which is not possible in Japan. Live at Event Center, Borgata Casino & Spa, Atlantic City, NJ.
