Description

This is a sound source from the Antibes Jazz Festival in 1963, which is also famous as the official album “Miles in Europe.” While “Miles in Europe” is a performance on July 27th, what is recorded here is the performances on the 26th and 28th, which are before and after that. Both are remastered recordings of the latest sound sources that were just broadcast in France in October 2021. Both are not complete sound sources of the entire performance due to the broadcast time, but each is just over 50 minutes long, which is a good length for concentrated listening. This is a must-listen album that features performances by a quintet that is one step closer to becoming the “lost quintet” that is hailed as the pinnacle of acoustic jazz (it would be complete if the saxophone was replaced by Wayne Shorter) in the latest high-quality sound. Recorded Live at The Antibes Jazz Festival, Juan-les-Pins, Antibes, France, July 26 and 28, 1963 DISC 1 (July 26, 1963) EXCELLENT Soundboard Recording // Broadcasted in 2021 // 53 min 01. SO WHAT 02.
