Description
The 1987 North American tour, September 27th Boston performance, was recorded over 2 hours and 5 minutes, with the audience master recently unearthed and remastered in 2024. First of all, there are some unstable parts of the original master, so the latest equipment has been used to adjust the balance, correct the pitch, reduce hiss noise, and adjust the level as smoothly as possible. A little before this, a performance in Japan was also held, and the concert continued with the same good condition as at that time. The performance was centered around Kenny Garrett’s alto, who became Miles’ right-hand man, Robert Irving and Adam Holtzman on twin keyboards, Darryl Jones on bass, and Ricky Wellman on drums, so it is understandable that Miles himself liked the band at this time very much. The groove created by the entire band was wonderful, and the performance was comfortable from start to finish. The set also included songs from TUTU, which won a Grammy in the same year, such as “Perfect Way,” “Tutu,” and “Splatch,” as well as “Full Nelson,” “Tomaas,” and “Portia.” They also played “Movie Star,” a song written by Prince after they met. The influence of Prince can be felt in the ensemble itself, so be sure to check it out.
