Description
On July 25, 1987, the band appeared at the jazz festival “Live Under the Sky” held annually in Japan at that time, and the best quality sound and video were recorded. This is a soundboard sound source and pro shot video from FM broadcast radio and TV, both of which have been digitally remastered in 2025. The sound has been significantly updated and the recording is 62 minutes long, so all the songs performed on the day are included in the complete version. The video is also digitally corrected to the best quality currently available, and the documentary “Master Miles’ Musical Life,” which is a digest of Miles’ valuable interviews, is included for a total of 42 minutes. The performance is centered around Kenny Garrett’s alto, who was Miles’ right-hand man at the time, and includes twin keyboards Robert Irving and Adam Holtzman, bassist Darryl Jones, and drummer Ricky Wellman, so it’s understandable that Miles himself liked the band at that time very much. The groove created by the entire band is wonderful, and the performance is comfortable from start to finish. The set also includes “TUTU,” which won a Grammy Award in the same year, as well as “Perfect Way,” “Tutu,” “Splatch,” and the final “Time After Time.” It’s a masterpiece that allows you to enjoy the rich content and performance through sound and video.
