Description
This is a beautiful live performance recorded from the shiny master sound source digitally rebroadcast in 2019, during Petrucciani’s European tour in 1998, five months before his death, at the Marciac Jazz Festival held in France. Michel Petrucciani, the first European pianist to sign with the prestigious Blue Note Records and praised as the best pianist in France, formed a trio with Anthony Jackson and Steve Gadd. The video of the Stuttgart performance from the same tour was officially released, but the Marciac performance released by Mega Disc this time is incomparably amazing. Moreover, since the rebroadcast sound source is used as the master, the sound quality is also outstanding. All songs except for “Take the A Train” and “So Fat” are original compositions by Petrucciani. With his delicate tone during live performances and his sometimes speedy touch, it seems that no one could have imagined that he would unfortunately pass away in the last five months. This live performance is a masterpiece that allows you to listen carefully to a precious live performance in his hometown of France, where Petrucciani poured his heart and soul.
