Description

Petrucciani, who is just 16 years old and has just made his full-fledged professional debut, is working with Michelle’s father, Tony Petrucciani, who is known to avid guitar fans as a hidden gem of a guitarist, and a bassist who is also highly acclaimed in Europe. A rare live performance held in Paris on January 28, 1979 by a quartet with Michel’s older brother Louis Petrucciani and France’s leading drummer René, and a performance by master Lee Petrucciani who had a great influence on Petrucciani in his early days. Both concerts were held in Paris on November 22, 1982, by Konitz, his brother Louis Petrucciani, and Petrucciani’s best understanding and partner in the early years, Aldo Romano, who is said to be France’s most famous drummer. A two-disc set recorded on the highest quality stereo soundboard that has been carefully mastered by the label. It perfectly captures Petrucciani’s full-fledged performance, and from the beginning Petrucciani’s dynamic and talkative piano explodes, contrary to his appearance. Playing the original numbers, which are the majority, is especially special, but when you listen to the standard playing, which is also performed by many other pianists, the theme remains the image of the original song, but the rhythm, the improvisation, etc. When you listen to his plays, which are full of innovative ideas, you will be able to hear wonderful performances that have reached a level that would be unimaginable for pianists of Petrucciani’s age! Two years later, just before his full-fledged debut, Petrucciani surprised Terry by co-starring with the great Clark Terry. He performed live with his father, Tony, and older brother Louis, who were originally active as semi-professional musicians with a penchant for jazz. This is a quartet, and from the beginning when you listen to it, Petrucciani shows off his amazing piano playing throughout the entire volume, fully demonstrating the genius that was Petrucciani. The set list includes Evans’ “Nardis” and other standards such as “My Funny Valentine” and “Round Midnight,” but it also includes Chick’s “Sometime Ago,” which is more than just a cover. You can listen to a very interesting and valuable performance. Also, my father Tony’s playing was a wonderful combination of technique, phrasing, and singing heart, and I wonder why such a great guitarist was buried in the world…In 1982, in a quartet with Lee Konitz, who was a coupling partner, Backed by the wonderful rhythm section of Aldo Romano, one of France’s most famous drummers who quickly became close friends with Petrucciani, and his brother Louis, the duo of Petrucciani and Konitz performed masterpieces such as the quartet version of the masterpiece “Tote Sweet”. “Straight No Chaser”, “Lover Man”, “All the Things You Are”, and Petrucciani’s 18th song “Let’s Take the A Train” have already reached the stage of completion. Petrucciani’s brilliant pianism is exploding, and you will be overwhelmed by the continuous attack of sensational play that will overshadow the great Konitz! ! !
