Description
Introducing the early MSG FM album. This work is an air check album containing the radio broadcast of the Dutch “June 8, 1981 Pink Pop Festival” performance. It was also broadcast on TV on this day, and the opening scene and “Armed And Ready” will be released as a bonus DVDR “PINKPOP 1981”. This work includes the second song “Cry For The Nations” and onwards. From the beginning, there is a DJ saying “Michael Schenker Band…” and at the end, a Dutch DJ speaks, so this seems to be the whole story of the radio broadcast (in addition to “Michael Schenker Band”, the song title is also “Doctor Doctor Please”). (He’s a really cool DJ who was typical of those days.) There appears to be no overlap between the TV and radio broadcasts. MSG started in September 1980, performed live for about 3 months, and recorded the legendary “ROCK PALAST 1981″ the following year in January 1981. Then, as early as March, they entered the studio again, and continued until May to produce their masterpiece, “Myth”. Their appearance at the “Pink Pop Festival” of this work was the month after the completion of “Myth”, and it seems that it was an appearance that also served as a warm-up for the full-scale tour. However, “Myth” was released in September, and there are no new songs in this set yet, so it is just a “shortened version of the 1980 tour”. However, the enthusiasm of the performance was top-notch, and with the band having formed a full-fledged band and recording a new work, there is no doubt that MSG’s live performance is going to be bad. Along the way, Gary Burden becomes a little suspicious, but it’s not as stiff as the Cozy Tape rehearsal “RETURN OF THE FLYING ARROW”, and while he’s able to master the song well, he still feels like he’s working inertly. Not enough. There, only the freshness that just came out of the studio is sprinkled. It’s crisp and crisp, and has plenty of momentum. While reproducing the song with a sense of structure that is a bit different from UFO’s with flawless precision, Koji’s powerful drumming adds to the drama, and Michael dances the beautiful melody as if flying around. It’s a really, really delicious performance. Of course, if you want to enjoy this period, the legendary “ROCK PALAST 1981”, which has even been made official, is the best option. This work, while sandwiching the production of “Myth” from that famous video, is also two months before that “Hisho Densetsu (MSG Budokan Live)”. A broadcast sound source that connects two historical breadwinners like a beam. It is the highest quality record ever. 2015 was a summer filled with passion for Michael Schenker, including his historic collaboration with Graham Bonnet and the very early MSG masterpiece “DERBY 1980”.
