Description

The legendary first visit to Japan, which was the first descent of God. A treasured live album from that legendary Japan tour is here. In 1981, Cozy Powell was also present, and the band reached the peak of popularity when they first came to Japan. In addition to the traditional official album “ONE NIGHT AT BUDOKAN,” the two performances at the Osaka Festival Hall are also included in “WALK THE STAGE,” but this work is different from those. This is the finest audience album from the “August 14, 1981: Nagoya City Public Hall” performance. Our shop has archived many famous albums of first visits to Japan, so let’s check the schedule with those as well.・August 12: Nippon Budokan “DEFINITIVE BUDOKAN 1981″・August 14: Nagoya City Public Hall 【This work】・August 17: Fukuoka Sunpalace “INTO THE PALACE”・August 19: Osaka Festival Hall (evening)・August 19: Osaka Festival Hall (night) “TALES OF 1981″・August 20: Kyoto Kaikan First Hall *Note: Only representative works for each performance. All six performances. The Nagoya performance of this work was the second performance following the Nippon Budokan. The biggest point of this work is the wonderful sound. Anyway, the overwhelmingly bold and direct feeling that reaches straight is amazing. Although the applause is a vivid audience recording, its clarity and fineness are comparable to a poor line recording. What is most surprising is the lack of a sense of distance. In fact, Nagoya City Public Hall is a famous place for the best audience recordings, and the smaller theater has less echo, and many famous recordings with a straight-ball sound like a soundboard or club gig remain. This work is a masterpiece sound that can be said to be a sample. The splendor of the Flying V in its heyday bathed in such a close sound… Not only the nuance of each pick, but even the creaking of the bent neck is super clear. Even without relying on the venue sound, the glossy and sweet tone seems to melt, and the waveforms of the forceful choking and vibrato seem to come to mind. Even more vivid is Cozy! The sharpness of the hard sound that was said to be “like hitting a drum can” is fully open. Each hit is approaching in front of you without any cloudiness or turbidity… Furthermore, Chris Glenn’s bass can be heard beautifully even to the gritty and bubbly feeling, and Paul’s synths pour down without mixing. It’s a wonderful recording that makes you forget that it’s an audience recording at all. The recording itself is wonderful, but what’s even more amazing is the freshness. In fact, it was made into a CD directly from the master cassette that was handed over directly from the recorder himself. This is already incredibly real. Although there is a very slight hiss with an analog feel, there are no dubbing marks or deterioration over time. A fresh sound comes out of the speaker as if it were a digital recording recorded yesterday. The show depicted with that sound is exquisite. This first visit to Japan is a legend, but not all of it is a good legend. As evidenced by the edited “ONE NIGHT AT BUDOKAN,” the most famous Nippon Budokan is in tatters. It is a tour that has a bad reputation for that reason. However, this work is the next Nippon Budokan. The performance is a passionate performance that will roll back the poor performance two days ago and start over. To be honest, the repertoire of “Myth,” which was unreleased in this work, seems to be stiff, but it is still a world apart from the Nippon Budokan. Rather, that firmness leads to carefulness, and even contributes to the sense of construction that is unique to MSG. Furthermore, Gary Barden’s carefulness is rolling in a good direction. Of course, he didn’t transform into a super vocalist overnight, but his singing is safe and you can enjoy the unique flavor of his raspy voice. Since then, Barden has been said to be “getting better with each visit to Japan,” but I wonder if he had such a good day since his first visit… His singing voice makes me want to apologize for the 36 years of ignorance. A passionate performance in Nagoya that seems to be a revenge for the Nippon Budokan, a show that can be said to be the first great performance in Japan. It is a masterpiece that depicts it with the master sound that the recording artist himself treasured. There is no tape change cut in the middle of “On And On,” but in any case, it is one of the best Michael Schenker’s first visit to Japan. Here it is in a dignified appearance.
