Description
This full recording of the quintet’s live performance at New York’s prestigious jazz club, Birdland, on February 4th from their 1997 North American tour has been digitally remastered to a good audience master and lasts for 1 hour and 24 minutes. First of all, Pat Metheny and the rhythm section are super powerful members, including Dave Holland and Jack DeJohnette, the original tag team of Electric Miles. And from his solo album “Tales from the Hudson” released the previous year, which was oriented towards electric sounds such as programmed sounds, this time, perhaps because it is a long-established jazz club like the Village Vanguard, he is committed to authentic acoustic jazz throughout the entire album, and he plays a passionate performance with long playing including the standard “Autum Leaves” and solos by each member. Among them, Metheny’s elegant solos are wonderful everywhere, and his orthodox playing style and solid phrases are a must-listen for fans. In any case, this is a must-listen item for all jazz fans as it is a rare live recording of this lineup.
