The Brecker Brothers were hugely popular among jazz musicians who were incorporating soul and funk in the 70s. This is a live recording of the band led by Michael Brecker, one of the two brothers. Michael is the only wind instrument player, but Mike Stern’s guitar adds a rock touch. Mike Stern joined Miles’ band just after joining the band, so the guitar sound has a Miles band feel to it. Michael Brecker was also involved in the development of the wind synthesizer “EWI,” which has since become synonymous with Michael himself, and you can enjoy it throughout the recording. Although it is an audience recording, it is well recorded and has good sound quality. The intervals between songs have been cut and edited, but since the master was originally cut between songs, they have been re-adjusted and adjusted.
