Description
Two big bands with deep ties, METALLICA and MEGADETH. Here is the pre-broadcast master of “WOODSTOCK ’99”, where the two giants competed. This is a definitive pro shot that realizes the visual beauty that wipes out the air check’s previous releases and the full recording of this work only! Our shop has been particular about the fate of the two big bands and has introduced the finest collections. Dave Mustaine era METALLICA’s studio album “NO LIFE ‘TIL MEGAFORCE”, the live album “LEGENDARY QUARTET: FIRST & LAST” with Mustaine & Cliff, and the finest soundboard album of the reconciliation live “BULLSHIT IS OVER!!”. This work is the fourth installment and the finally appeared pro shot edition. This work contains the “Woodstock 99” performance on July 24th and 25th, 1999. At this major event celebrating the 30th anniversary of the historic festival, METALLICA appeared on the second day, July 24th, and MEGADETH appeared on the final day, July 25th. Both were broadcast on television and have been loved as classic footage since then, but this work is not an air check. Although the title says “DIGITAL MASTER,” it is not a “digital remaster.” It is the ultimate version using a leaked digital master before broadcast. Before introducing the quality, let’s first look at what position this festival occupies for both bands. [Very few clashing live performances between the two giants] There seem to be quite a few performances between the four kings of thrash, such as “CLASH OF THE TITANS” and “THE BIG 4,” but when it comes to “METALLICA vs MEGADETH,” there are surprisingly few direct confrontations. According to research by overseas enthusiasts, they can be broadly divided into the following five categories. April 1983: Mustaine expelled from METALLICA A: December 1985: NEW YEAR’S EVE 1985 (1 show) B: June 1993: Reconciliation Tour (5 shows) C: July 1999: WOODSTOCK ’99 (1 show) ←★here★ D: June 2010-September 2011: THE BIG 4 (13 shows) E: June 2012: DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL (1 show) That’s a total of 21 shows. Next year will mark 35 years since Mustaine was fired, but this is all. Moreover, the majority of the shows are from “THE BIG 4” project “D,” and there are only 8 shows outside of that. This work allows you to witness the “1999 Edition “C”” with the best professional shots. It is a two-disc set with METALLICA on Disc 1 and MEGADETH on Disc 2. Now, let’s introduce the shows of both heroes. [Disc 1: METALLICA] First of all, METALLICA appears. The point is the complete version of fierce digital quality! The super detailed and super vivid image quality is completely different from the air check groups that have been released so far. It is a completely official multi-camera professional shot even by modern standards. The beauty of the image is only possible if it is a pre-broadcast master, but in fact the digital master has been around for several years and has been uploaded on Youtube under the name “OFFICIAL” (of course, it is not actually official). However, it is an incomplete version without “Creeping Death” and after. This work is a full master of all songs recorded digitally! Moreover, this work is not only long but also has great sound. The previous digital version was (for some reason) a flat sound with little stereo feeling, but this work is a super powerful sound with a super powerful and amazing three-dimensional feeling. It is the apex quality that can only be tasted in this work, even if you search the world. However, although this master recorded the performance part completely, the “audience scene” such as before the start of the show and waiting for an encore was cut. In this work, such scenes are complemented from the best master of satellite broadcasting. It was finished in its complete form on the day. The complement scene has an analog feeling as expected, but conversely, even if it is the best broadcast, you will be able to realize the super high quality of the main part, which is completely different in dimension. Furthermore, this work also includes a different angle version of “Creeping Death”. This is the same as the video actually used in the official work, and of course it is digital quality. This work completely covers the super high quality master born from this show. [Disc 2: MEGADETH] The next disc 2 is MEGADETH the next day. This is also a leaked digital master brought by the same route, and it is still of ironclad quality. As with the METALLICA edition, the pre-show scenes were cut, so we supplemented it with the best broadcast master. The quality is the same as the METALLICA edition, but this one is much more valuable. After all, there are extremely few high-quality videos of MEGADETH during the Marty Friedman era. Most of the professional shots from the heyday were broadcast in South America, and if there were high-quality images, they were only a few songs. Officially, the 1992 Hammersmith 92 performance (box “WARCHEST”) and the 1999 Fillmore performance (bonus of “GREATEST HITS”) were released, but even those were incomplete versions full of cuts. This work is a valuable item that allows you to watch a full show of more than 70 minutes with the same quality as the official product. In addition, this MEGADETH edition also has a must-see scene unique to “WOODSTOCK ’99”. This festival is also famous for being a major riot, and MEGADETH appeared at the time the riot began. For a while after the show started, the performance continued as usual, but around the middle of the show, “Almost Honest,” a suspicious mood began to drift, and several large fire pillars rose at the back of the venue. While singing, Mustaine looked around with a face that said, “What on earth is going on?”, and the camera also noticed the strangeness and showed the inferno. MEGADETH, who had no idea about the situation, continued the show while being confused, but the inferno only spread as the song progressed. In “Trust,” the police finally intervened. This work captures even such a strange mood with a super-superb professional shot. [The “end point” live where both heroes pushed forward] In addition to such tense scenes, the live performances of both heroes are also amazing. METALLICA is at the end of its golden age when Jason Newsted and MEGADETH is at the end of their golden age when Marty Friedman was enrolled. Both bands have reached the peak of their ensembles, which they cultivated in their heyday, with heavy riffs that are endlessly heavy and melodies that are thoroughly rich. Particularly wonderful is the singing voices of James Hetfield and Dave Mustaine. Neither James nor Dave are “technique singers,” but with each album, their voices have become thicker, stronger, and more skilled. The “1999” of this work is the time when they reached their peak. Both of them are delicate when they mutter, and powerful when they shout. And the melodies are also written with plenty of emotion. They are two cool people in any era, but you can’t see them as “skillful” anywhere else. Furthermore, the more you know about the journey of the two giants, the deeper this work becomes. A few years later, METALLICA, who lost Jason, was on the verge of disbanding, and MEGADETH, who left Marty, really disbanded. This work is packed with the countdown to such a collapse. Unlike today, when returning to the origin and reproducing famous albums have become commonplace, this is the “current destination”. The state they reached after continuing to grow and expand desperately. This is a two-disc set that depicts that moment with precious, super-premium professional shots. This “masterpiece of the era” was born because of the line-up of rare bands. Live at “Woodstock 99: West Stage” Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome, NY.
