Description

2013 “SUMMERSONIC 2013” August 10th Chiba Marine Stadium August 11th Maishima OCEAN STAGE Since then, the champion METALLICA has not come to Japan for 11 years. The best original recording of their last live in Japan is back in stock. The last live was “Osaka performance on August 11th, 2013”. It is a superb audience recording when they appeared as the main act at “SUMMERSONIC 2013”. The key points of this work are the quality that is comparable to the official sound board of livemetallica.com and the realism that far surpasses the official sound source. The latter is especially important, and the pleasure of being able to experience the best of what may be the last time is irreplaceable. In order to realize the weight of it, let’s look back on their history of visiting Japan over the past 27 years. “Metal Master” released November 1986 (first visit to Japan: 5 shows) “Metal Justice” released May 1989 (6 shows) “Black Album” released December 1991: FINAL COUNTDOWN ’91 (1 show) *No Osaka show March 1993 (6 shows) “Load” and “Reload” released April 1998 (8 shows) “Saint Anger” released November 2003 (6 shows) August 2006: SUMMERSONIC 06 (2 shows) “Death Magnetic” released September 2010 (2 shows) *No Osaka show August 2013: SUMMERSONIC 2013 (2 shows) ←★Here★ This is METALLICA’s visit to Japan for a total of 38 shows. This was the last one. Since his first visit to Japan in 1986, he has had a maximum of five and a half years of blank time, but now eight years have passed without a visit to Japan. Although it is impossible to predict the future, it may really be the last night. This work recorded at such a memorable show is a superb audience recording. It is the original master of this work only handed over by the recorder himself, and there are no walls or ceilings that reflect sound only outdoors, and the sound emitted by the PA is directly inhaled. It seems that it was recorded from the front block close to the stage, but you can enjoy the straight ball feeling without any wraparound, the extremely thick core, and the razor-like edge. This alone is a quality that exceeds the official sound board, but this work is even more than that. First of all, the opening part is powerful. This show starts with “Hit The Lights”, which strongly impresses the 30th anniversary of the debut, and the scene that was ignited by the intro is a tremendous excitement. From the first song, a mosh pit suddenly occurs in front of the taper, and even a cloud surfer appears. The frenzy spreads further with the second song, “Master Of Puppets”. What’s scary here is that the performance sound itself remains superb while firmly conveying that mood, and the frenzy is perfectly suppressed. This is the true value of this superb and ultra-realistic work that cannot be achieved with an official sound board. However, no matter how good the sound is, it cannot replace the danger to the taper himself. In the third song, “Ride The Lightning”, we move to a safe position, but that’s not bad at all. This time, the frenzy changes and the stability of the steel that is firm dominates the recording. As always, the superb sound is upgraded to a superb sound while changing into a sense of on-site overlooking the grand excitement. Such a miraculous sound depicts the greatest hits, which are also “super”. A wide range of rare songs were heard at the Tokyo performance, but at the Osaka performance, it was de metal. Let’s organize the set here so that you can experience its richness. Cliff era (9 songs) Kill ‘Em All: Hit The Lights/Seek & Destroy Ride The Lightning: Ride The Lightning (★)/Fade To Black (★)/For Whom The Bell Tolls/Creeping Death Metal Master: Master Of Puppets/Welcome Home (Sanitarium)/Battery Jason era (8 songs) Metal Justice: Harvester Of Sorrow (★)/…And Justice For All (★)/One/Blackened Black Album: Sad But True/Nothing Else Matters/Enter Sandman Reload: The Memory Remains (★) After Trujillo took over (1 song) Death Magnetic: Cyanide (★) *Note: The ★ mark indicates songs that were not performed at the Kanto concert. …And so it goes like this. As you can see, there are only two songs after “RELOAD”, and the ultimate selection from “KILL ‘EM ALL” to “BLACK ALBUM” is lined up. It seems like there are too many standard songs, but the opening “Hit The Lights” is the first performance in Osaka, “Ride The Lightning” is the first in 27 years since the legendary first visit to Japan, and “…And Justice For All” is the first in 24 years (both in Osaka). Despite the core selection of songs that sound like steel essence boiled, simmered, and boiled down until it becomes powder, the scene is filled with surprise and a fresh feeling. It’s as if they have been preparing for this day for nearly 30 years, and the highlight feeling is intense. This work closes with a closing message from the members. Eight years since this night. Not only have they not come to Japan during that time, but there is no possibility of them coming in the future. In October 2021, they are scheduled to resume their activities after overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic, but there is still no sign of them coming to Japan. Will “Osaka 2013” be a historic night? I would like to deny such a future vision with all my might, but on the other hand, it is also true that the show flowing from this work is so hot that it seems inevitable.
