Description
“NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER” is a studio work by METALLICA with Dave Mustaine, and a legend in metal history. The original cassette has been miraculously unearthed! The complete master version, including parts that have never been heard before, will be released! “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER” is the most famous demo in the history of heavy metal. It is the origin of both METALLICA and MEGADETH, and is a studio album that has been loved as the “Mustaine version of KILL ‘EM ALL”. As it is the most important sound source, it has produced countless previously released groups, but this time the original master has been unearthed. Not only is it the original sound with no dubbing marks, but a complete version has been born that includes notes that were previously cut in editing! To explain the true nature of this work, basic knowledge is essential. First, let’s start with an outline of the legendary demo “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER”. The legendary album “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER”, which was produced as the first official studio work, was recorded at Chateau East Studio on July 2, 1982. Most of METALLICA’s early demos were recorded in the garage of Ron McGovney (the bassist at the time), but “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER” is different. It was recorded in a professional studio for the first time to produce the debut EP. It was produced with funding from the owner of the punk label “HIGH VELOCITY” (Kenny Kane), but when Kenny listened to the finished recording, he realized that METALLICA was not a punk band and the debut talk fell through. As a result, it spread as a demo. This legendary session was recorded simultaneously on two recorders, and one of the original masters remained in Lars Ulrich’s hands, and the other remained in McGovney’s hands. Of these, the official version sold at the live venue was Lars’ “4th Generation Master”. On the other hand, the master of the McGovney series was leaked in the 1990s. The younger generation (1st or 2nd generation) sounded better than the official version, and the vivid count before the performance was also left. Our shop has also loved it as “NO LIFE ‘TIL MEGAFORCE” and “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER: DEFINITIVE EDITION”. This work is a reissue of such “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER: DEFINITIVE EDITION”. This time, it is the original master of the newly excavated “McGovney series”. The original master, who also has a first-time appearance part, has been newly excavated. The difference is in both quality and quantity. First of all, “quantity”. The new master this time had parts that were not included in the conventional master at the beginning of “Motorbreath”, “Phantom Lord” and “Hit The Lights”. “Motorbreath” sounds like a guitar being scraped, and “Phantom Lord” and “Hit The Lights” have NG takes with missed starts. Both are very short parts and have no musical meaning, but “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER” is the biggest and most important legend in history. All of the on-site sounds are cultural heritage. Of course, such mistakes are only evidence of the original master. What is musically important is the master sound that runs through the entire work. This is already fiercely fresh and vivid. At first glance, it may seem like a plain sound, but this is the “real sound”. There is no loss of magnetism due to aging, perhaps because metal tape was used, and of course there are no dubbing marks. Previously, “NO LIFE ‘TIL MEGAFORCE” and “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER: DEFINITIVE EDITION” have been considered younger than the official version, but this work has raised the peak of that. In addition, after all seven songs, a “Riff Track” that was not included in the previous master is also included. This is a composition session, where the riff ideas were recorded as memos. This session itself was once leaked, but it was also recorded on the original cassette of “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER”. This work permanently preserves the truth of the newly excavated tape without leaving anything out. A remastered version that reproduces the “played sound” is also included as a bonus. In addition to the original master, this work also includes a bonus remastered version. In fact, the original master is so natural that it may seem plain at first listen. Although that is the truth of the tape, the dynamic version that will make metal fans burn their souls is also included at the same time. Of course, even though it is a remaster, it does not earn meaningless sound pressure. It brings out the dynamism of the performance while making the most of the natural feeling and resolution of the original sound. Specifically, the sound range balance is adjusted and the sense of separation is improved. The high notes that sounded low are now restored to their original state, and the muddy bass is now clear and crisp. Although the sound pressure has not been increased, it has been reborn as a wider and more dramatic sound. This album is recorded in the order of “first half = original version” and “second half = remastered version”, but if you listen to it through, you can really appreciate the awesomeness of the remastered version. Since the sound pressure has not been increased, there is no sense of discomfort that the sound suddenly becomes louder, and yet it is clearly easier to listen to and feels dynamic. If the original version is the “truth of the tape”, the remastered version is a “reprint of the live performance”. The conventional version “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER: DEFINITIVE EDITION” also included counts, but this work is the original that goes back even further to the origin. It is the core unedited / complete version. This is the ultimate form of “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER”, the world’s best demo and the ultimate heavy metal album. It is a piece that will pass on the truth to future generations. The highest peak update of METALLICA’s legendary studio work “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER” with Dave Mustaine. The newly excavated original master, a complete version including parts not heard in “NO LIFE ‘TIL MEGAFORCE” or “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER: DEFINITIVE EDITION”. An absolute work that includes two types, the “ORIGINAL TAPE VERSION” as it is on tape and the dynamic “REMASTERED VERSION”.
