Description

The legendary first live album in Japan has become more affordable and is being reissued! MEGADETH is still very popular as the second most popular band after METALLICA, but they first visited Japan in 1987. It was around the time of the historic masterpiece “PEACE SELLS… WHO’S BUYING?”. This work is an audience album containing the “April 2nd and 3rd, 1987 Shibuya Public Hall” performances, which were the first and second days of that monument. First, let’s take a look at the dates of their first visit to Japan.・April 2, 1987: Shibuya Public Hall [Disc 1 of this work] ・April 3, 1987: Shibuya Public Hall [Disc 2 of this work] ・April 4, 1987: Aichi Kosei Pension Hall ・April 6, 1987 Japan: Osaka Welfare Pension Center This is how the first visit to Japan will feature 4 performances in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka. This work is not only the first two performances, but also a two-disc set in which the entire Tokyo performance was completed by the same recording artist. Both performances directly use the original master given by the recording artist himself, and one performance is placed on Disc 1, “April 2nd”, and Disc 2, “April 3rd”. The quality is ultra-realistic sound that feels like the speakers are about to burst into flames. It is the complete opposite of the so-called “soundboard” type, and is a live commentary board that hits head-on with intense enthusiasm. The venue is Shibuya Public Hall, which can accommodate around 2,000 people, but the hot air compressed in the closed room makes it feel like a small underground club. The mood is so un-Japanese that if you listen to it without knowing it, you might mistake it for a 1984 LA recording. On top of that, MEGADETH sprays wild intellectual thrash metal like a flamethrower… it’s amazing. I wrote “Intellecture”, and although the complex song that unfolds slowly is certainly intelligent, I can’t see any trace of intelligence from the way they play. Of course, there’s nothing stupid about it, but there’s no hint of the coolness that comes with it, and it’s just a riff on a raging storm of anger. Even so, Gal Samuelsson never loses track of the song and changes the song at a rapid pace, and Chris Poland suddenly brings out a jazz feel in the midst of that storm… It’s true that MEGADETH is here, but in later years… It’s like a different band. The era of Marty Friedman and Nick Menza is great, but Chris and Gal, who created “KILLING IS MY BUSINESS…AND BUSINESS IS GOOD!” and “PEACE SELLS…BUT WHO’S BUYING?” It was the special of specials. This is a live album that makes you feel that strongly. The set list that hits with their fierce performance also summarizes “KILLING” and “PEACE SELLS”. From the first day, all songs from “PEACE SELLS” except “I Ain’t Superstitious” will be performed, and half of “KILLING” will be woven into it. Furthermore, on the second day, “Killing is My Business…And Business is Good!” and “Chosen Ones” were added, making it 6 of the 8 songs in “KILLING”. It hits most of the repertoire of the time. In the end, this was the only time these four people came to Japan, but it was there that they were able to condense and show off everything. In any case, I was able to experience the intense first visit to Japan in a very real way. That’s all. METALLICA’s “MASTER OF PUPPETS” was released in Japan in May 1986, and MEGADETH’s “PEACE SELLS” was released four months later in October. The following November, METALLICA made their shocking first visit to Japan, and approximately five months later, MEGADETH came to Japan for the first time… The sense of the times, the atmosphere. “MEGADETH is also amazing”, “What kind of guy is Dave Mustaine, formerly of METALLICA?”… He directly hits the expectations that have been raised due to the rumor that it is a historical masterpiece and responds to it with explosive slash. ,home. MEGADETH screws down. METALLICA’s first visit to Japan was amazing, but MEGADETH is also amazing. Above all, the enthusiasm of the audience speaks for itself. This is a radical record that blows out the hot air of that era from the speakers without leaking out.
