Introducing the golden quartet’s “top, finest, official grade” stereo soundboard album! Speaking of the “golden quartet,” of course, it is “Dave Mustaine / David Ellefson / Marty Friedman / Nick Menza.” These four people will never be resurrected again due to Nick’s death. They have four super masterpieces, “RUST IN PEACE”, “COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION”, “YOUTHANASIA” and “CRYPTIC WRITINGS”, but until recently, they were unfortunate in live albums. In recent years, some official reprints have been made, but it is still far from the whole picture. This work is a transcendent stereo soundboard that complements the tour that has not been officially reprinted with “official quality”. First of all, let’s understand what the position of this work is, together with the official work. ● The pinnacle live album from the “RUST IN PEACE” era: disc 4 of the official “WARCHEST” box set (Wembley Arena performance on October 14, 1990) ● The pinnacle live album from the “COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION” era: bonus disc of the 20th anniversary edition (Cow Palace performance on December 4, 1992) ● The pinnacle live album from the “YOUTHANASIA” era: disc 1 of this album ←★This!★ (Buenos Aires performance on September 9, 1995) ● The pinnacle live album from the “CRYPTIC WRITINGS” era: disc 2 of this album ←★This!★ (Buenos Aires performance on December 13, 1997) …and so on. The apex live albums of the “RUST IN PEACE” and “COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION” eras have been made official, but the 20th anniversary edition of “YOUTHANASIA”, which was expected to be released naturally, has not appeared, and the second half of the golden quartet has not yet been archived. This work follows the apex soundboards of the remaining two tours and completes the golden age. Together with the official archive, it is a collection that has the same value as “RUST IN PEACE”, “COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION”, “YOUTHANASIA”, and “CRYPTIC WRITINGS”. [Disc 1: September 9, 1995 Buenos Aires] In this way, this work is even worth the same as the masterpieces of the MEGADETH apex. Let’s explain the contents. First of all, the apex of “YOUTHANASIA WORLD TOUR 1994-1995”, Disc 1 contains the “Buenos Aires Performance on September 9, 1995”, which is also the final performance of the world tour. The sound is superb. As listed above with the official version, it is a completely official sound, but in a sense it is even better. That “in a sense” is the direct feeling of direct connection to the table. There are many subtle qualities in South America in the 1990s, but this work has the “roughness of South America” in the opposite direction, and it packs a direct sound that is different from the careful mix of Western broadcasts. From the awesomeness of the guitar strings rubbing to the fiercely panning stereo feeling and effect switching, everything is super clear. In the super rare track “Victory”, Mustaine’s laughter also comes in as a SE, but it suddenly makes you laugh in your brain, and it makes you shiver down your spine. It’s a “furious sound board” where only the performance and singing voice push hard, without even a big cheer. Due to the success of “COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION”, the number of sound boards has increased dramatically since “YOUTHANASIA TOUR”, but this is the only “super sound & complete recording” so far. There are some sound sources that have some fluctuation in volume and sound pressure among collectors, and they are still highly praised as “awesome!!” and “must have!!!”, but this work uses a uniform best master that does not even have such fluctuations. [Disc 2: Buenos Aires, December 13, 1997] Instead, Disk 2 is the apex sound board of “CRYPTIC WRITING WORLD TOUR 1997-1998”. It is a live performance at the same “Arquitecto Ricardo Echeverri Stadium” as Disk 1, but it was not coupled because it was the same venue. As a result of purely seeking the “longest” and “highest sound quality”, it just so happened that the top of all soundboard sound sources was at the same venue. The drummer must be careful on this tour, as he was replaced by Jimmy DeGrasso from Nick in July 1998 during the tour. Since this work was recorded in 1997, the drummer is Nick. And the sound is a fierce soundboard that is not inferior to Disc 1 by a quarter step. Unlike Disc 1, cheers are also mixed, but they are limited to between songs and when Mustaine invites a chorus, and 95% of them are directly connected to the brain. Although the “CRYPTIC WRITING TOUR” has a large number of soundboards, most of them are of poor quality. When it comes to high-quality recordings, there are only unplugged ones after Jimmy’s replacement, and this is the best-sounding electric full show album that shines at the top. This one also has momentary electronic noise in the master between collectors, but this work used the 100% beautiful best master. [MEGADETH world of only the “golden four”] The show depicted by such a hyper sound is amazing. Starting with “Paranoid”, “Victory”, and “Sin”, which have no official live recordings, they also performed “A Secret Place” and “Almost Honest”, which are no longer performed. Even “Trust” can be heard in the “golden quartet” version. And the ensemble of the “golden quartet” is striking. Even in many of the major songs, the smooth phrases unique to the originator: Marty flow beautifully, but what is even more striking is Nick. Even now, the fierce players of the metal scene are all sitting on the stool, but no one else can taste the pleasantness of the sharply chopped drumming that is a little stumbling. It was because of him that MEGADETH was MEGADETH, whether it was attacking slowly in the middle or becoming melodic. Beyond the quality of the songs, the four albums from “RUST IN PEACE” to “CRYPTIC WRITINGS” are the reason why they shine. It’s a two-disc set that attacks with a fierce direct sound board. This is MEGADETH. The “true MEGADETH” that will never be revived again due to Nick’s death. The official “1990 Wembley” and “1992 Cow Palace” are official products (release them separately!), but that alone is a mistake. Just as the “Golden Quartet” made four studio masterpieces, the super masterpiece of the live album will only be completed after all four performances.
