Description

An item containing 1 hour and 34 minutes recorded on 2 discs using the excavated soundboard sound source of the live performance held at Shinjuku Koseikinkin Hall on October 31st from the 1972 performance in Japan has been released. Yoshio Gyoda introduced the members, and the live performance began with “Valley of Live,” which was included in the album “Sahara” and is also known for its koto performance. Of course, he brought the koto on stage to perform at this performance as well. It was recorded for about 5 minutes on the album, but in this live performance, it became a medley with “Ebony Vienna”, making it a 30-minute masterpiece. From the middle of the live performance, Sonny Fortune’s saxophone and McCoy’s piano inherited the late Coltrane’s style in “Message from the Nile” released the following year in 1973. The next song, Coltrane’s famous song “Naima”, is a piano-only version that you can’t miss. After the performance in Japan, the album “Echoes of a Friend” was recorded at Victor Studio in Tokyo on November 11th.
