Description
Mark Knopfler completed his first full-fledged world tour in four years. The super-excellent multi-camera video is now available. This work was filmed at the “Barcelona performance on April 25, 2019.” This is a video work that synchronizes the audience shot with the stereo soundboard recording. In recent years, multi-camera editing of audiences has become commonplace, but something like this is rare. It is truly a masterpiece that will become the tour’s masterpiece. Before we look at the quality, we should first consider the show’s position. Let’s look back at the overall picture of “DOWN THE ROAD WHEREVER TOUR” that just ended the other day. ・April 25th – May 16th: Europe #1 (15 performances) ←★Here★ ・May 18th – 30th: UK (9 performances) ・June 7th – July 22nd: Europe #2 (33 performances) August 16th – September 25th: North America (27 performances) This is a panoramic view of the world tour that was held after a long time. We have already reported on two masterpieces “ROYAL ALBERT HALL 2019 1ST NIGHT” and “MILANO 2019: THE VIDEO)”, but the Barcelona performance of this work was before either of them. The concert was the first day of the tour. Although it is the first day of the tour that has already ended, it is inevitable that this work appeared late. Knopfler sells soundboard live downloads of each performance on its official website, but this work was evolved into a video work by overseas core enthusiasts. We aim to create the ultimate video that matches the ultimate audio, and it is no surprise that it took a long time to create an extremely high-quality editing work. Anyway, it was overwhelming even before the show started. The venue and the cityscape of Barcelona are projected, but this is elaborate. I think they probably used some kind of professional material, but it shows cars passing by at the speed of light as dusk sets in, and captions frequently appearing. It is a wonderful production that greatly increases the anticipation for the show. And even when the show starts, the quality is high. Of course, the audio is a super superb stereo sound board, but the sight is also amazing because it doesn’t lose to the sense of close contact. The main camera is an audience shot looking directly at Knopfler, and the position beyond that is unknown. There may be a certain distance because there is a shadow of a person crossing in front of the camera, but thanks to the zoom, Knopfler’s expression closes in so close that it fills the screen, so you can’t tell where the photo was taken. Of course, since it is a multi-camera edit, images from various angles are included in addition to the main camera, and all of them are spectacular. Switching is also done with instantaneous but smooth fade processing, allowing you to smoothly immerse yourself in the show. Such an audience shot alone is wonderful, but there is also an even more elaborate production. This is probably to compensate for the moments when the venue goes dark and the camera goes out of frame, but the PV and the cityscape of Barcelona are inserted. This is truly amazing. The music in the PV synchronizes naturally, and the cityscape scenes are perfect for the MC and song lyrics. There is a difference in image quality between professional material and audience footage, but I’ve been looking for footage that is suitable for live performances. “MILANO 2019: THE VIDEO”, which I introduced the other day, had an overwhelming sense of the one-camera experience, but this work is far superior in terms of production. The show drawn with that quality is similar to “MILANO 2019: THE VIDEO” but different. Now let’s organize the set. ●DIRE STRAITS (6 songs)・Once Upon A Time In The West/Romeo and Juliet/Your Latest Trick/Money For Nothing/On Every Street・Songs not seen in MILANO 2019: Telegraph Road●SAILING TO PHILADELPHIA (3 songs )・Sailing To Philadelphia/Speedway at Nazareth ・Songs you couldn’t see in MILANO 2019: Silvertown Blues●DOWN THE ROAD WHEREVER (3 songs)・My Bacon Roll/Matchstick Man・Songs you couldn’t see in MILANO 2019: Nobody Does That ●Others (7 songs) ・Done With Bonaparte “GOLDEN HEART” / Why Aye Man “THE RAGPICKER’S DREAM” / Postcards From Paraguay “SHANGRI-LA” / Heart Full Of Holes “KILL TO GET CRIMSON” / Corned Beef City “PRIVATEERING”・Soundtrack: Going Home “LOCAL HERO” / She’s Gone “METROLAND”… and so on. DIRE STRAITS’ “Brothers In Arms” that was heard in “MILANO 2019: THE VIDEO” is not available, but all other songs are played. On top of that, he also performed “Telegraph Road,” “Silvertown Blues,” and “Nobody Does That.” They probably tried out various repertoires only on the first day of the tour, but as a result, you can enjoy a larger group of famous songs than “MILANO 2019: THE VIDEO”. “MILANO 2019: THE VIDEO” ranks first in terms of the stability of the shots and the experience unique to a single camera, but this work far surpasses it in terms of the number of songs, the spectacular use of multiple cameras, and the finely tuned editing sense. A piece that coats the ultimate sound with video and mania love. Live at Palau Sant Jordi, Barcelona, Spain 25th April 2019 MULTI-CAM Synched with SBD (134:08) 1. Intro 2. Why Aye Man 3.
