Description
Marion Brown, an alto saxophonist who is popular in Japan as a successor to John Coltrane, has released a title that fans will love, recorded directly from a shiny, superb FM sound source that was rebroadcast from a performance in Bremen, Germany, during a European tour with his own quartet in 1969. The live performance by the quartet, consisting of Ed Kroger on trombone, Sigi Bush on bass, and Steve McCall on drums, features Marion Brown’s alto playing in perfect harmony and a sharpened stage. Since he was affiliated with the ESP label, he has a strong image as a freelancer, but here you will be surprised by his naive alto. Of course, this historic live performance has finally arrived, where you can enjoy the true Marion Brown, who does not tolerate any compromise and whose radical phrases are evident, something that you would never be able to experience in a studio recording. 1.Ode To Coltrane(17:13) 2.Exhibition(17:42) 3.Mary Ann(19:18) Marion Brown(as) Ed Kroger(tb) Sigi Bush(b) Steve McCall(dr)
