Description

Marion Brown, an alto saxophonist who is popular in Japan as a successor to John Coltrane, performed in Bremen, Germany in 1969 with his own quartet. This is a title that fans will be delighted to hear, directly recorded from the superb sound source that was rebroadcast this year. The live performance by the quartet, consisting of Ed Kroger on trombone, Sigi Bush on bass, and Steve McCall on drums, features Marion Brown’s alto playing in perfect harmony and a sharpened stage. Since he was affiliated with the ESP label, he has a strong image as a freelancer, but here you will be surprised by his naive alto. Of course, this historic live performance is finally here, where you can enjoy the true Marion Brown, who does not tolerate any compromise and whose radical phrases are evident, something that you would never be able to experience in a studio recording.
