Description
In 1986, MARILLION released their masterpiece concept album “MISPLACED CHILDHOOD” and excited the world with a complete album performance tour. The original recording that allows you to experience the full show at its finest is a miraculous discovery! [The best masterpiece recording recognized by the world’s masters] What is engraved in this work is “January 29, 1986 Leicester performance”. It is a transcendental audience recording that records the whole story. …I started as usual, but to be honest, I couldn’t hide my upset. After all, this work was recorded by the master craftsman “Crazy S.”. It is no exaggeration to say that it is a masterpiece. Some of you may be reminded of the famous album “WELCOME TO THE GARDEN PARTY: MILTON KEYNES 1986” when you see the keywords “MARILLION”, “Crazy S. recording”, and “best masterpiece”. I introduced that 3-disc set as “Crazy S.’s masterpiece,” and I have no choice but to use the same expression for this work. The highest peak was a mountain range. I was a bit distraught, but I calmed down and started from scratch. First of all, let’s look back at the show’s position from the overall picture of the century masterpiece tour. 1985 / May 26th – June 18th: Europe #1 (12 performances)《”MISPLACED CHILDHOOD” released on June 17th》 ・August 17th: MONSTERS OF ROCK appearance ・September 4th – November 28th Sunday: Europe #2 (50 performances) December 3rd-7th: Japan (5 performances) December 10th-20th: UK #1 (8 performances) 1986 January 8th-February 6th Sun: UK #2 (23 performances) ←★Coco★ ・February 26th – April 29th: North America (30 performances)《June: EP “Brief Encounter” released》 ・June 11th – August 3rd : Europe #3 (13 performances) December 27th-31st: UK #3 (5 performances) This is MARILLION in 1985/1986. The aforementioned “MILTON KEYNES 1986” is also a UK performance of the same tour, but that is one act of “Europe #3”. The Leicester performance of this work was the 17th performance of “UK #2” about half a year before that. This work was recorded at such a show, but this is already amazing super high sound quality. In fact, Mr. “Crazy S.” himself was proud of himself as “KILLER RECORDING!!” (which is very rare as he never praises himself), but it is certainly a far cry. Anyway, there is no sense of distance in the direct, super vivid and powerful core, and the vividness of the details is on par with a sound board. Speaking of 1986, it was the heyday for Mr. “Crazy S.” and it is said that there was “no loss”, but even in that miraculous period, it was the highest peak. There is no way to describe it other than “a masterpiece.” Of course, even with the appearance of this work, the splendor of “MILTON KEYNES 1986” will not fade in the slightest, but its individuality is quite different. “MILTON KEYNES 1986” had a great feeling of zero echo like an outdoor festival, but this work also picks up the sound of the hall (although very slightly). However, this increases the depth, power, and luster of the ensemble without creating a sense of distance or turbidity, and it remains ultra-clear and beautiful. It is truly a miraculous masterpiece recording. [A great album of stories filled with the emotion that can only be found in a hall] Furthermore, the great chorus lets you enjoy the deliciousness of the guest record and the real pleasure of the hall. MARILLION, who embody the ideal image of British rock, were extremely popular, and each song had their voices erupting without waiting for the chorus, and the melodies filled the venue in thick, thick waves. is. Moreover, it was not a close-up voice. Of course, there must be some screaming guys in the venue, but you can’t feel it from this work, and the big chorus doesn’t come in between with a three-dimensional effect that feels like the bottom is burning the sound of a thick and meaty performance. Yet, each person’s voice is clear and spread out gently and finely, like May rain… I have handled countless records by many bands, but I don’t remember a chorus as thick and beautiful as this one. Not only the sound but also the mood is miraculous. And since what is being played is a famous story album, it is terrifyingly dramatic. It has been half a year since the album was released, and the audience is familiar with the story and lyrics. Sing and sing despite the series of new songs! “Lavender” is a symbol of this. The audience mutters, “Lisa, for you Lisa,” along with the lyrics “for you” in the chorus. The feeling of being immersed in this story and song, the feeling of being in a closed room where the loud chorus does not spread. The deep and deep impression that is different from the outdoor festival “MILTON KEYNES 1986” and the official version “THE THIEVING MAGPIE” can only be called “Hall version MISPLACED CHILDHOOD”. Also, the flavor of this work is not only in the “MISPLACED CHILDHOOD” part. Speaking of album reproduction live, there is also a 1988 Utrecht performance sound board that was made official in the 2017 deluxe edition, but this work has a different set because the timing is different. Let’s compare and organize them here. DISC 1: Part 1 (5 songs)・SCRIPT FOR A JESTER’S TEAR: Script for a Jester’s Tear/The Web・FUGAZI: Emerald Lies/Incubus/Jigsaw (★) DISC 2: Part 2 (MISPLACED CHILDHOOD)・All songs: Pseudo Silk Kimono/Kayleigh/Lavender/Bitter Suite/Heart Of Lothian/Waterhole (Expresso Bongo)/Lords Of The Backstage/Blind Curve/Childhoods End?/White Feather DISC 2: Encore (4 songs)・FUGAZI: Fugazi/Punch & Judy (★) ・Others: Giz a Bun (★) / Market Square Heroes (★) *Note: Songs marked with a “★” cannot be heard on the official SBD of the 1985 Utrecht performance. …and it looks like this. The composition of the “MISPLACED CHILDHOOD” reproduction part with classics before and after is common throughout the tour, but the selection has changed. Even when compared to Crazy S.’s masterpiece “MILTON KEYNES 1986,” which has been mentioned many times, there are five songs in the repertoire that do not overlap, “Emerald Lies,” “Jigsaw,” “The Web,” “Giz a Bun,” and “Punch.” & Judy” can be enjoyed. Although it is the “indoor hall version” of “Yaga Fest Edition MISPLACED CHILDHOOD”, it is also a sister work that can cover a wider variety of famous songs. This work is a vacuum-packed version of MILTON KEYNES 1986, an outdoor festival that symbolized the British scene at the time, and the deliciousness of the hall in an unexpected quality. Although they all have different personalities, they are superb live albums worthy of being called the masterpieces of the world master “Crazy S.”. Once you have experienced these two spectacles, you will never be able to return to “THE THIEVING MAGPIE.” Such a peerless sister work. The hall version.
