A recording of the “Miles Tribute Live” held in the summer of 2011, featuring Marcus Marat, Herbie Hancock, and Wayne Shorter, coupled with sound. A complete recording of over 2 hours of the live performance at “Antibes Jazz” held in France on July 15th from a stereo soundboard master using broadcast sound sources. They recreated a variety of Miles classics from the acoustic to electric period to the post-comeback period. Even though Hancock is over 70 years old, he still incorporates a funky sense of playfulness throughout, while Shorter is quiet but makes great plays at key points. And this time, Marcus Miller had the biggest presence, full of dynamism, sandwiched between the two big names, and gave a performance that showed his direction for the band as a whole, and above all his deep respect for Miles. And the encore at the live performance in France, “Time After Time” and “TUTU”, were a wonderful excitement, and Scholky was still alive and well in “TUTU”. “We don’t just play songs.
