Description
Manowar’s legendary first performance in Japan, January 23, 1993, at Bayside Jenny in Osaka, recorded for 75 minutes with ultra-high quality audience recording! ! The first performance in Japan, which took place from January 20 to January 23, 1993, was held in Kawasaki, Nagoya, and Osaka. This CD records the Osaka performance on the final day of the tour. Although the first performance in Japan is now legendary, to be honest, it was a failure in terms of commercial and audience numbers. None of the performances were sold out, Nagoya had a dismal number of customers, and even in Osaka, the audience that gathered on the day of the day at a live house with a capacity of 1,000 people was about 300 people. In 1993, Japan was still in the metal bubble. Even though metal concerts were often held in halls, Manowar, now the king of metal, performed at a live house, and the audience was quite strict. This is probably because metal fans at the time did not know what Manowar was, and the specialist magazines at the time treated them as a novelty. However, fans who saw this first performance in Japan said that Manowar’s live performance was amazing, and among fans who could not see the live performance and young fans who learned about Manowar after their first visit to Japan, many Manowar legends have been attached like tail fins, and many fans have become eager to see Manowar return to Japan. However, the return to Japan has never been decided. Many fans had given up, thinking that it would be impossible to see Manowar live in Japan, but after overcoming many difficulties, this miraculous return to Japan for the first time in 21 years has finally come true. Please enjoy this spectacular 4-disc press CD, and enjoy this precious first performance in Japan and the Osaka live performance. The members of this first visit to Japan are the unchanging members Joey DeMaio and Eric Adams, David Shankel, who had the highest technique of all time, and the legendary Rhino, who burned his drum set when he joined Manowar, and are only members of this tour. When the CD is played, it starts with the passionate Manowar calls of the few Manowarriors (Manowar’s die-hard fans) who gathered. From this point on, you can feel the heat of the venue. The usual opening “Ladies and gentlemen, From the United States of America, All hail Manowar” is followed by “Manowar”, which has been the opening song of all Manowar’s live shows since its creation in 1982! It approaches with tremendous power from the opening. The sound production that emphasizes the bass and low tones is unique (although this time in Japan, the sound production was even more emphasized than before and could be said to be unique). After that, the set list that shows what Manowar is, which is mainly upper songs, runs through at full throttle at once. The selection of songs such as the masterpiece “Fighting The World” that was not performed at this return to Japan performance, the epic “Battle Hymn” that is filled with all of Manowar’s aesthetics, “Ride The Dragon” and “The Glory Of Achilles” that were unique to this tour are also a delight for enthusiasts. The beautiful “Heart Of Steel” is like a breath of fresh air in the constantly attacking set list, and the 7 and a half minute bass solo by Samurai Joey DeMaio, who uses not only hard but also soft, is also a good accent. After listening to the usual outro “The Crown And The Ring (Lament Of The Kings)” after the overwhelming 12 minute final song “Battle Hymn”, you will think in the comfortable relaxation that remains. It’s really an amazing live show. You can tell just by the sound. It’s nothing short of a miracle that this legendary night has been preserved in a proper form as sound. This recording, which captured the musical tones firmly from a distance of the excited audience, can be said to be one of the best recordings of metal bands in Japan at that time. As expected from the pre-release reputation of the band as the loudest in the world, certified by the Guinness World Records, the sound emitted from the PA on the day was loud, but each instrument and vocal was clearly audible. This recording is also very clear, without any distortion, despite the loud volume. For this release, the master has been mastered so that it can be heard with a modern sensibility, resulting in a high-grade sound with greater scale and brightness. Please enjoy the sound of this legendary first visit to Japan, along with the return visit to Japan in 2014, which became a new legend. A record of the struggle of men who dedicated everything to heavy metal with the slogan “Death to False Metal”. A must-listen live performance for all metal fans! Please listen to it. Hail and Kill!
