Mahavishnu Orchestra/NY,USA 1972 2Days Complete

This is a complete recording of the live performances held in New York’s Central Park over two days on August 17th and 18th from the 1973 US tour of the first phase of Mahavishnu, which featured Jan Hammer and Billy Cobham, two of the most popular musicians in McLaughlin’s career, with the superb and powerful performances of the members. Three songs from this live performance were released on one LP at the time, and some of the parts that were not included on analog were later released on CD as unreleased tracks. This time, the soundboard recordings from the two days were unearthed by someone involved, although they are partially incomplete, and are recorded here in their original master form, unedited. Therefore, although there are some unstable parts and cut parts, it is irresistible for fans to hear the divine transcendental performance of Mahavishnu at that time in this quality. In particular, the first half of the tour from the beginning of the year was influenced by the joint tour with Frank Zappa and had a strong jazz/rock approach to the performance, but from around this time, the emphasis was on crossover ensembles, and each playing style showed a cohesive form that could be said to be in its complete form, and the composition changed for each performance. Therefore, the set composition changed considerably from the middle of the two days, and it was rare to see rare numbers such as “Trilogy” opening the show.
