Description

The Seattle performances, which took place on June 18th and 19th from the 1972 North American tour, were recorded using the audience source that is said to be the best at present. (The cuts on Disc 1 Announcement 0:48, Disc 2 Since I’ve Been Loving You 5:59, Stairway To Heaven 9:52, 9:55, 10:43, Tangerine 0:32, Moby Dick 14:07, Whole Lotta Love 25:52, Rock And Roll 1:34, 4:32, 5:11, 5:26, Disc 2 Immigrant Song, Going To California, Disc 4 Over The Hills And Far Away are the same as the previous releases.) On the first day, the 18th, due to a riot at the Rolling Stones’ Vancouver concert on the 3rd, it was ultimately impossible to hold the concert in Vancouver, and several buses were used to transport Canadian fans to Seattle, where it was finally held (the buses got stuck in traffic and the start time was delayed, which resulted in a shorter set list). This 75 was recorded by Stan, who is famous for recording Seattle, etc. Gutowski recorded the entire show on two reel tapes (using a Tandberg Model 11 open reel deck and a Sony ECM-22P microphone), but the second tape was set in the wrong direction, so the second part was left out until Going to California. Despite this incomplete recording, the sound quality is ranked among the best for the 1972 performances (it has been packaged in very few cases in the past), but this recording uses the first direct digitization from Stan’s master reels, and you will be impressed by the wonderfully clear sound, which can be said to be the best ever. The next day, on the 19th (the originally scheduled Seattle performance), The Ocean, Over the Hills and Far Away were played for the first time, Dancing Days were played twice, Black Country Woman was played in full, and extremely rare songs such as Amazing Grace, Everyday People, Louie Louie, Let’s Dance, etc. were introduced in the organ solo part. This performance, which lasted for three and a half hours, is said to be the best day of the 1972 US tour in terms of content. It has been packaged many times since the 1990s, but contrary to the wonderful performance content, it was also famous for its poor sound quality because it used a sound source that was repeatedly copied from 3Gen or more. (The master itself was quite distorted because it was originally recorded with a very cheap stereo cassette recorder and microphone.) In the 90s Bootleg, there were many cuts in the songs, but the 2Gen(?) Cassette, which began to circulate around 2005, improved the recording content and became almost uncut. This board uses the lowest-gen sound source, which was digitized for the first time this year using a 2Gen Cassette that used a 1Gen reel owned by Bill B. (at this time the first part of Immigrant Song was cut due to tape trouble) that was copied from the cassette master to a reel, which is said to have the most accurate sound source history and excellent sound quality as much as possible. Since the original sound quality is the same, there is no dramatic difference from the previous releases, but it is clearly natural and has a great sense of separation. (In addition to these, sound sources that used 1Gen cassettes (not sure if they were true…) have also been circulating, and there have been discussions on fan sites about what is the best and most accurate sound source history.) This is a must-have item for fans that ideally packages the spectacular Seattle performance, which can be said to be the best performance of the 1972 US tour, with the best sound ever.
