Description
The first day of the 1971 Budokan concert was a major discovery of ZEP live footage in recent years. The fact that the footage even existed was a world heritage-level excavation, and it caused a huge sensation because it was surprisingly easy to see as an audience shot footage from that time. Five years have passed since then, and using the evolved technology, a version in which the photographer restored the footage again has been released. Of course, it is longer than the last time, but what’s even more noteworthy is that the image quality is even clearer and easier to see. What’s even more noteworthy is that by filling in the missing parts with photos, the number of songs has increased, and it has evolved into a more fulfilling documentary. Although the original recording state was incomplete, the fact that the two songs “Black Dog” and “Stairway To Heaven” were new songs…or rather, the fact that “I didn’t shoot them because they were unknown songs” is revealed. Now it can be said that this is a historic moment when new songs from the masterpiece “IV” were first performed in Japan, but at the time it was a position of unknown songs that I had never heard before. It was natural that he turned off the 8mm camera without shooting it. On the other hand, the cameraman is a tough guy who also records the audience, and after “Dazed and Confused” he plays the audio he recorded himself (which is quite good sound quality). Thanks to this, it was really kind of him to record “Stairway To Heaven” even though it was only audio. In addition, the logo on the screen that was there at the last release is not there this time, so it is finally easier to see. And it is really excellent that the confusion that occurred in the finale “Communication Breakdown” is shown in a documentary style. I was really surprised at the previous video excavation, but the image quality has improved dramatically and the video itself has become much easier to see, so this first day of ZEP Budokan is a brilliant upgrade!
