Description
Among Zeppelin’s live performances, there are some that are underrated, even though it is a very narrow range in the world. Although there are many great performances and great recordings, there are still many hidden great recordings that are not well known or have few titles for various reasons. Wendy label probably wants to shine a spotlight on such live performances and release them to the world, and this work is one of those underrated live performances. Speaking of the 1977 North American tour, the Los Angeles consecutive performances starting with Eddie are the most famous. Of course, each performance in Los Angeles is a great performance. However, in addition to Los Angeles, large-scale consecutive performances were held in Landover and New York in 1977. This work records the performance on June 13th from the consecutive performances at Madison Square Garden in New York. The 1977 Madison Square consecutive performances are famous for June 11th, and there are many titles that have already been released, and some sound board recordings have also been leaked. Also, in recent years, a sound board recording of June 7th has been leaked. On June 10th, there is a title called “Relic From The Different Age” on the Wendy label. However, regarding June 13th, there are almost no releases other than the nostalgic TDOLZ “Over The Garden”. One of the reasons why such a great performance has hardly been released is probably because the sound quality was not good. It is true that there were many high-quality recordings in 1977, so it is undeniable that this day was overshadowed. However, as I will mention later, this work is of such quality that it can be said to be something completely different, and boasts outstanding sound quality that is comparable to “LISTEN TO THIS EDDIE”. This is clearly due to the generation, and it is an upgrade that overturns the evaluation of the Madison Square performance on June 13, 1977, which was not blessed with sound quality and title until now, and it can be considered one of the best audience recordings in 1977. The source of this work is a first-generation tape that has been dubbed only once from the original 120-minute tape recording. It was digitized, pitch adjusted, volume and other adjustments were made to make it the main sound source. As you can hear from the sample sound source, the sound image is very fresh and undegraded, so you can immediately understand that this is the first generation. If you have listened to the titles that have already been released, you will be surprised by this sound quality. The spatial spread of the sound, the sound of the organ in “Stairway to Heaven” and “No Quarter”, etc., which deteriorate during dubbing, are recorded in a state close to the original state without deterioration. In addition, the sub source is also said to be the first generation, and although the sound quality is inferior to the main source, it is used as a supplementary source, such as the cut part that was missing in the main source being recorded here, making it the longest recording ever. Since the main source was originally recorded on a 120-minute tape, the cuts during the song are the minimum possible. There is a gap of about 35 seconds in the main source “Bron Y Aur Stomp”, and about 15 seconds in the song “Black Dog”, but each is completely recorded by complementing it with the sub source. And the most complicated one is “Nobody’s Fault But Mine”. There are no gaps in the main source of this song, but there are some parts where the sound fluctuates, perhaps due to the condition of the original tape. It also sounds like the tape is rotating unevenly, and the cause is unknown, but although there are no gaps, it still feels strange musically, so all of those parts have been replaced with sub-sources. There are pros and cons about this process because it changes the sound quality, but please understand that it is an edit using a sub-source with a constant tempo as the priority. From the 1977 North American tour, the performance at Madison Square Garden in New York on June 13th was recorded from the first generation tape, which boasts outstanding sound quality. Of course, it is the longest recording ever, using a different source on the same day as a sub, but anyway, I would like you to listen to the wonderful sound quality of this freshness. Those who already have the released version will be amazed at the difference. It will be a great performance and a great sound source that can be counted as one of the best in 1977. â– June 13, 1977 Madison Square Garden performance! â– A first generation tape with outstanding high-quality sound that overturns conventional evaluations â– The longest recording ever, using a separate source as a sub-sound source.
