Description
It’s already been 30 years since Led Zeppelin was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995. It seems like it was just recently, but it’s been so long. The show was broadcast on the American cable TV station VH-1 at the time, and the recording was available in real time in Japanese shops on VHS. That’s why many people feel nostalgic about it. Currently, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has uploaded the show to YouTube in parts, but did you know that a version before it was put on the VH-1 broadcast line appeared on YouTube? This version is before the broadcast, so it’s natural that there is no VH-1 logo or subtitles. In fact, it records the entire ceremony for much longer than the version released by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In addition, the exit scene that overlapped with the commercial break in the VH-1 broadcast version is also clearly shown. It makes you believe that it is truly before the broadcast. Not only that, the picture quality itself is much clearer than the version currently released by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Of course, it’s surprising that the picture quality is better than the version broadcast on “VH-1” in 1995. The only part that has been patched from the original broadcast is the backstage scene between the ceremony and the start of the jam (the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame caption by “VH-1” is included here), but this also allows you to feel the difference in picture quality. Unfortunately, this video and audio are in mono, but luckily we were able to obtain the stereo audio of the ZEP performance scene at the perfect timing. Although it is the same stereo audio, it is not borrowed from the nostalgic KTS record that was made into a CD from the “VH-1” broadcast at the time, but this is also genuine stereo audio before the broadcast. In other words, if you combine this audio, the best version of the 1995 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will be completed. However, since the speech scene was originally in mono, the only scene that had stereo sound source dubbed was the performance scene. In this case, the difference between mono and stereo is indeed large. The combination of this high quality video plus stereo sound is just the best. The video is much longer than the original broadcast, even from the awards ceremony, and the late Atlantic Records president Ahmet Ertegun’s speech congratulating ZEP before the two Aerosmith members appear as presenters, and the peaceful atmosphere of ZEP and Aerosmith members, as well as Willie Nelson (!), watching from backstage, is just too funny. It was exactly 30 years ago, so Jimmy and Robert are still young. Jonesy’s looks are comparable to those of his ZEP days, which is surprising. In addition, the youthfulness of the two Aerosmith members, especially Steven Tyler, also makes you feel the passage of time. And when it comes to the jam scene on stage, the start of “Train Kept A Rollin” seems a bit messy. However, from the slow blues medley “Long Distance Call Blues / Reefer Headed Woman”, which is reminiscent of the 1973 European “Whole Lotta Love” medley, Jimmy and the others show their true colors. At the same time, Neil Young, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, appeared on the jam “When the Levee Breaks,” where Jimmy played the lead, while Jimmy played the backing, and for some reason even Plant picked up a Les Paul and strummed it (I wonder if it can be called a lead guitar…wry smile). The jam in this strange formation is really interesting even now! The ZEP Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which appeared after just 30 years, is a live video that is easy to watch, with the event itself being less than 50 minutes long. Please enjoy the nostalgic reunion in the literally longest and best version.
