Description
Contains the September 11th performance in Rochester, New York from the 1971 North American tour. The best album of the Rochester performance, the longest recording ever, compiled from multiple distributed sound sources! This performance has not been made into a CD much until now, and the full-length version was only released once about 10 years ago, so it will be a nice title for fans. This performance first appeared as a bonus track on the 3-disc CD title MAD SCREAMING GALLERY released in 1995. There, the middle to the end of the live performance was recorded in stereo audience recording with excellent sound quality. Also, around the same time, a 1CD title called LIVE AT LEEDS 1971, which actually recorded the beginning and end of the Rochester performance, appeared. This title may be because the sound source is different from MAD SCREAMING GALLERY, but not only does it have no overlap with the previous title, it was recorded with a monaural sound with a very different texture (Currently, these are separate from each other) It seems that it is organized by sound source). After that, around 2005, a version called GIANTS OF THE SKY, which added the first appearance parts to these existing titles and made it into a single live performance, was released among online traders, and there, Dazed And Confused and Stairway To Heaven were incomplete. However, it was recorded for the first time, Whole Lotta Love and Thank You became closer to the completed version, and a 2CD title of the same name was also released based on it. However, after that, Dazed And Confused was found to be a fake that recorded the take at Earl’s Court in 1975, so the recording of Dazed And Confused on this day has not been confirmed until now. This time, we have compiled multiple sound sources that are distributed among traders to achieve the longest recording ever (some of the titles have been supplemented with previously released titles). At the beginning of the live performance, from Immigrant Song to Black Dog, you will be surprised by the explosive sound, which is like a lump of sound with a strong bass, but the freshness is much better than the previous LIVE AT LEEDS 1971. Although the hiss is noticeable, it is a powerful sound that is quite natural and gives you a sense of atmosphere. Stairway To Heaven had a worse sound quality than the beginning of the live performance in the previously released GIANTS OF THE SKY, but this time it is recorded with a quite fresh master although it is the same sound source as that previously released. It is the same that the cut-in is recorded from the middle of the guitar solo, but it is recorded in a good master including the audience’s screams without cutting at the part where Robert sings the last part “stairway to heaven…”. In the previous release, the cut in the song at this point was buried in noise, so it was hard to tell, and I think you can experience that much difference in sound quality from the previous release. In addition, the inter-song part after the performance is recorded about 20 seconds longer than the previous release. After Celebration Day, it is generally a realistic stereo recording similar to MAD SCREAMING GALLERY, and the Whole Lotta Love medley is an edited version that connects multiple takes like the previously released GIANTS OF THE SKY, but in the previously released GIANTS OF THE SKY, A Mess. Of Since Blues, it has been replaced with a monaural sound source with inferior sound, but this time we are using a clear and fresh stereo master, so we hope that those who have previously released it will be able to enjoy it with a fresh feeling.
