Description
Two performances in Detroit on July 12th and 13th during the 1973 US tour are recorded as couplings. Moreover, four songs from the 13th performance are added with soundboard sources. First of all, the first day, the 12th performance, was recorded with the best quality and audience recording using the first generation master. Although it started in the middle of the opening, the sound cuts and noise were repaired as much as possible, and the performance of this day, which is a masterpiece, was reproduced as much as possible. The intense riffs of “CELEBRATION DAY”, the light and bouncy “OVER THE HILLS AND FAR AWAY”, the emotional singing of Robert in “SINCE I’VE BEEN LOVING YOU”, the deep bluesy band ensemble, and “DAZED AND CONFUSED” were improvised for more than 30 minutes, and a tense performance with no time to breathe was performed. The following “STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN” also started in a quiet atmosphere, and was a beautiful performance that carefully built up the melody. Furthermore, “MOBY DICK” was recorded for about 3 minutes, perhaps because the taper had intentionally stopped the tape. The second half was even more heated, and the last song of the main story, “WHOLE LOTTA LOVE”, was a wonderful development with the insertion of “CRUNGE” and “I’M GOING DOWN”. Furthermore, during Robert’s MC, Bonzo made a mic noise during the encore last song, “THE OCEAN”, and there was also a screaming scene as if he was drunk. And on the second day, from the 13th, the encore from “MOBY DICK” onwards was additionally recorded with a soundboard source leaked by a related party. Even though it is a bonus, it is a well-balanced and powerful soundboard source, and it is especially clear that you can clearly hear the hi-hat sound and bass line. Moreover, “MOBY DICK” is a long play of 28 minutes, and Bonzo’s explosive drumming is in official quality. Another surprise was the last encore song, “DANCING DAYS,” which was played only on this day of the North American tour. It’s also nice to be able to listen to this rare number on the sound board. Two performances that are considered to be masterpieces in 1973 are available on a permanent preservation press. DISC ONE : 01. Rock And Roll 02. Celebration Day 03. Black Dog 04.
