Description
Since the beginning of this year, the Mike Millard sound source that JEMS has been releasing every Sunday has really continued to excite enthusiasts. However, there are a huge number of audience recordings left behind, and I get the impression that JEMS tends to stock up on sound sources that will make you wonder, “I didn’t know that Millard had recorded artists like this.” . I think the best examples are Susie Quatro and Return to Forever. Therefore, I think everyone was wondering if the recording of each name of Led Zeppelin, which mania around the world would be looking forward to, would be postponed. However, the release last Sunday surprised enthusiasts around the world. Yes, this is because the master tape sound source of the LA Forum performance on June 21, 1977, which is a monumental work in ZEP audience recording and is considered the masterpiece of Millard recording, was easily uploaded. You could say that I was exposed in a good way. Ever since the series of releases by JEMS began, everyone thought it would happen someday, but it was surprising that it would appear so suddenly. Last Sunday, the mirrored master was uploaded on dime as usual. Naturally, there are many people who were happy to be defeated. However, this is not an easy task. Since the opening song “The Song Remains The Same” has been officially released by Yori, it has been deleted here. Even though it was called a release, it was only used in the background of that “DVD” menu screen, and because of that, even though it was Eddie’s day, that rare masterpiece and shocking opening number was cut? That would ruin the master release. I think there were a lot of enthusiasts who were disappointed, thinking that they would respect the DIME rules so much that they would just cut it to the level that was used for “DVD” BGM. Fortunately, JEMS was not stupid. It became a hot topic on the internet, with the smart move of incorporating a “cipher” into the accompanying text (and it was surprisingly easy to understand lol) and uploading the complete version on a separate site. That’s right, there is no way that “The Song Remains The Same”, which is played by the legendary sharp Bonzo on Eddie’s day master, is a cut. Therefore, there are probably many people who realized this after dropping it at dime and dropped it at another location. This limited press CD is, of course, based on the complete version obtained from there. However, here again it is not straightforward. As was the case on the first day of Long Beach, JEMS tends to put too much effort into recording Millard’s ZEP. This time as well, two versions were uploaded as a set. However, it seems that the remaster for Long Beach was considered an “unnecessary favor” worldwide (lol), so this time there is no difference in sound quality between the flat master and the remaster, and it only feels like a difference in volume level. . Therefore, we are adopting the latter option this time. This would have been fine, but JEMS has done it again. It takes extra care to cut out all the whistles that sound near Millard between songs, or to soften them with equalization. Although it certainly has nothing to do with the performance, isn’t this Millard’s masterpiece? When it comes to mastering it, everyone wants to have it as it is. However, JEMS did it. Therefore, for this release, we have thoroughly adjusted the wide variety of whistle cuts in “LISTEN TO THIS, EDDIE” (shall we also call it “purple jacket”), which has received a reputation as the best ever. Moreover, we not only compensated, but also adjusted the sound quality and then compensated, so even if you listen to it while looking at the compensated parts described in a separate section, you won’t feel any discomfort at all. It is said that the fact that there were places where the song appeared for the first time between several songs was unique to the master, but it was JEMS’ processing that could have ruined it. Although it was released in a state where there were many points to be confused, the upper feeling unique to the recording from the master that was finally realized is truly vivid. In the case of Eddie’s Day, not only was it from the master, but the version that had been circulating until now was a copy via VHS, even if it was a low generation, and Dolby was also turned on. However, with the master, this is turned off, so the freshness and clearness are completely different. When you listen to the sound from this master, even the latest “purple jacket” sounds fluffy and lackluster. The upper feel is so overwhelmingly wonderful that even the word “natural” sounds lukewarm. Until now, most of the mirrored sound sources that had been circulating among traders were low-generation copies via VHS, but they were traded by a certain taper from Millard in his later years. Around this time, Millard was said to have become quite eccentric, and instead of copying from the masters, he had his own First Generation discs that he had made as backups downloaded to VHS. This branched out and became the basis for SIRA’s Rose Eddie, Stamp Eddie, and many other items released under the name “LISTEN TO THIS, EDDIE.” Finally, the master tape of Eddie’s day that mania has been waiting for has been revealed. Whether it’s RSR, BOX TOP, LP or CD, this is the ultimate upper version that will completely wipe out your old items. Therefore, it is certain that this version will be released by many labels. However, while the release of the master was shocking, this release is probably the only one that meticulously repaired the gaps between songs that had been changed in the “extra care” edit. In 2020, you can finally hear Mike Millard’s masterpiece and the best performance of ZEP 1977 from the master. Come on, one for every family!
