Description
Led Zeppelin, LA Forum, June 21, 1977. No other explanation is needed. Our shop has released the sound source of this day several times, but each time it was sold out. It is easy to gain popularity even without the title “LISTEN TO EDDIE”. In addition, the titles of the various June 21 releases that we have released have been sold out for a long time, and there is no end to the voices calling for their reissue. On the contrary, “Since it is such a super-classic ZEP live, I want it to be reissued more…”. This is the treasure of the ZEP live sound source that has established such a solid position. ZEP is the group that the legendary taper Mike Millard loved the most and devoted all his energy to recording. This is the masterpiece of the audience recording that caught the ZEP live that he left behind. At the same time, the great point of this sound source is that it captured the stage sound that ZEP in 1977 would have been aiming for. ZEP in 1977, who slowly improved their form through Destroyer, Landover, Fort Worth, and MSG, gave a great performance at their holy ground, the LA Forum. In fact, although everyone has their own preferences, there is no doubt that June 21st was one of the best performances of the 1977 tour. After all, Bonzo’s drumming on this day was amazing… There was no day in the April live that reached this level, and even in July after the LA schedule, there was no day that reached this level. The tour started in April, and the intense chemistry that occurred the moment ZEP arrived at the venue that they loved to play at. And it was literally “chemistry” as well… Bonzo’s crazy play on this day in the opening and several songs has been talked about until now, but still, the intense drumming is overwhelming every time it is played back. On the contrary, Bonzo has a strong presence throughout the entire “No Quarter”. No one would argue that Bonzo was the star of the day! The escalation of the degree of “chemistry” is one of the characteristics of the LA performance, but the atmosphere on June 21st was still in a class of its own. The mirrored recording, which was vacuum-packed to a stunning degree, was further sealed in a limited press CD in our release “LOS ANGELES 1977 1ST NIGHT”. It was a very natural and low-generation state, but it was the definitive version that compensated for the cut that occurred during the tape change in “Ten Years Gone”, which was a drawback of the mirrored recording, with a different source. It is also a title that was released without using the title, even among the “LISTEN TO EDDIE” items that have been released as many as stars. Since it was sold out, we obtained a copy of the mirrored master in a new state while waiting for another release. When we first got it, our staff was overconfident that it would not be much different from “LOS ANGELES 1977 1ST NIGHT”, but when we played it, we were overwhelmed by the freshness and natural thickness of the sound, which easily surpassed that. Not only June 21st, but also the ZEP sound source left by Millard is less diffused at the level of master copy, unlike the various audience recordings he created with Floyd and Dylan. This was simply because he had excellent recording techniques and was also eccentric. In that case, even copies of the same low generation level will have differences in sound quality depending on the equipment used. Millard especially liked to turn Dolby NR on and off, which allowed the high tones to extend. Because of this, the sound quality of the copy we obtained this time is in a class of its own. Of course, this time too, the missing parts of “Ten Years Gone” are compensated for with another familiar sound source. In addition, it is undoubtedly a great title not only for those who have been waiting for the reissue of the June 21st item from our store, which has been sold out for a long time, but also for enthusiasts who want to listen to or have the items of this day from now on. A new “LISTEN TO EDDIE” item from our store that has finally appeared, or the latest item of the June 21st LA Forum performance, which is a great performance among great performances!
