Description
Everyone loves ZEP’s 1977 masterpiece audience recording “LISTEN TO THIS EDDIE”. It was a once-in-a-lifetime masterpiece in Mike Millard’s recording career, but the long live performance peculiar to ZEP in 1977 was a nemesis, and several cuts were made during the recording. The cuts in “Ten Years Gone” were particularly serious, but they were filled in by another recording as early as the late 1990s. On the other hand, Jimmy’s “Guitar Solo” was the one that could not be filled in until the end. Initially, only the song was available as the source used to fill in the previous “Ten Years Gone”, and the whole picture was shrouded in mystery for a long time. Then, in 2017, the “LISTEN TO THIS ERIK” recording suddenly appeared, causing a stir among enthusiasts around the world. I thought that this would finally be the completion of “Eddie”, but I’m nostalgic now that I was disappointed that “Guitar Solo” was not recorded. Thus, “Guitar Solo” became a major obstacle to completing “Eddie”, but in 2022, a long version of “Recorder 2”, the supplementary sound source of “Ten Years Gone”, was finally unearthed by The Dogs of Doom. By using this in the missing part of “Guitar Solo” that had plagued enthusiasts for many years, the release of the masterpiece “LISTEN TO THIS, EDDIE: THE BEST & LONGEST” realized the long-awaited complete version of “Eddie” for enthusiasts all over the world. Since it is finally a truly complete “Eddie”, “LISTEN TO THIS, EDDIE: THE BEST & LONGEST” became a huge best-seller and has been out of stock for a long time. Like Pink Floyd’s Oakland, which will be released at the same time, the stable supply of records from the best audience recordings produced by the 1977 live performance must not be interrupted. Especially if it is the final definitive version. So, sorry to keep you waiting, the complete “Eddie” also known as “THE BEST & LONGEST” will be reissued this week, but as I said at the time of the previous release, “If you have the already released GRAF and this version, you don’t need any other Eddie at all,” and the contents have not been changed at all. However, for this reissue, the jacket design has been completely redesigned. Not only the previous “THE BEST & LONGEST”, but also the latest work “L.A. FORUM 1977 4TH NIGHT: BARRY GOLDSTEIN MASTER CASSETTES”, all the previous 1977 tour releases have been made based on stage photos from the tour, but this time, for the first time, the design has been changed to a homage to the slick of the RSR LP originally released around 1984. Although this unique RSR slick design has been used for many “Eddies” released by other labels, this time “THE BEST & LONGEST” also uses this design. After all, the RSR slick-flavored design really suits “Eddie”. Yet the content is literally “THE BEST & LONGEST,” which was a huge hit in 2022.
