Description
KISS’s last Japan tour has finally begun. The first original recording set is now available. This work records the “December 11, 2019: Tokyo Dome” performance. This is a 4-disc set containing two types of exquisite audience recordings that record the whole story. “END OF THE ROAD WORLD TOUR” is currently traversing the archipelago. In order to record this very memorable “now”, let’s check the show’s position in the schedule.・December 8: Xebio Arena Sendai ・December 11: Tokyo Dome ←★This work★ ・December 14: Morioka Takaya Arena ・December 17: Kyocera Dome Osaka ・December 19: Dolphins Arena [DISC 1-2: RECORDER 1] It was their fourth time at Tokyo Dome in four years, and this work, which captures the scene, is a two-piece set of complete recordings that is difficult to rate. This is a 4-disc set with “RECORDER 1” and “RECORDER 2” arranged on 2 discs each. And the quality is also excellent. “RECORDER 1” appears first, but this is a truly powerful masterpiece recording. The recording position is in front of B block, centered and in the middle. Because it is so close, the core is powerful and you can clearly see the details. Every single word of the lyrics is clear, and I can’t believe it was recorded at Tokyo Dome, which tends to be blurry. It’s also neat, and doesn’t freak out even when the band plays at full power, and even the explosive sound of the pyro at the opening (be careful of the volume!) captures the explosive feeling beautifully. On top of that, the three-dimensional effect is wonderful. Since it is in the middle position, the left and right stereo balance is of course balanced, but the balance between the performance sound and the loud cheers is also really good. Since it was in front of Block B, there was no obstruction to the sound of the performance, but the roar and loud chorus of the crowd, numbering over 10,000 people, only spread behind my head and did not come between me and the performance. It is a famous recording that boasts ease of listening that is not typical of a dome, yet can be synchronized with the huge spectacle unique to a dome. [DISC 3-4: RECORDER 2] “RECORDER 1” is an undisputed masterpiece, and it’s amazing on its own, but I’m surprised that “RECORDER 2” is just as good. This is also a powerful class recording, but what is even more amazing is the clarity. Of course, since it is Tokyo Dome, it is not super vivid like a sound board, but the edge is glaringly “standing” in the sound of the hall. The picking of the guitar riff, the sharpness of the shout, the attack sound of each drum hit…all the contours are tight, easily breaking through the thin rumble to begin with. Among them, Gene’s bass is the strongest. The rise of each note is hard and hard, and the groove is bouncing and dynamic. Sorry for all the onomatopoeia, but it’s not “buzzing”. For some reason, there is almost no rumble in the bass, and the vibe that dominates the vast space of the dome can be felt as a “shiver.” I don’t remember hearing such clear deep bass at Tokyo Dome. Although it is different from the sense of symmetry of “RECORDER 1”, this is also an exceptional recording. Tokyo’s last great performance] These two famous recordings depict KISS’s 26th and final performance in Tokyo. We have been reporting on overseas performances since the beginning of “END OF THE ROAD WORLD TOUR”, but let’s take a look at the contents of the set once again. ●70s (14 songs)・KISS: Deuce/100,000 Years/Cold Gin/Black Diamond・HOTTER THAN HELL: Let Me Go, Rock’n’Roll・DRESSED TO KILL: Rock and Roll All Night・DESTROYER: Detroit Rock City /Shout It Out Loud/God Of Thunder/I Love It Loud/Beth ROCK AND ROLL OVER: Calling Dr. Love・LOVE GUN: Love Gun・DYNASTY: I Was Made For Lovin’ You ●80’s (4 songs)・CREATURES OF THE NIGHT: War Machine・LICK IT UP: Lick It Up・ANIMALIZE: Heaven’s On Fire・CRAZY NIGHTS: Crazy Crazy Nights ●Remake era (2 songs + α)・PSYCHO CIRCUS: Psycho Circus・SONIC BOOM: Say Yeah!・Others: Sukiyaki…and it looks like this. Their live shows, which have produced a huge number of masterpieces, are always the greatest hits, but this is the final answer. “KISS” and “DESTROYER” are heavy, but all the others are a wide selection of songs, one from each album. “Say Yeah,” “Heaven’s on Fire,” “Calling Dr. Love,” “100,000 Years,” “Cold Gin,” and “Let Me Go, Rock ‘N’ Roll” were songs you couldn’t hear four years ago, even compared to the last time at Tokyo Dome. Filled with delicious numbers such as “Crazy Crazy Nights” and “Beth,” memories from all eras come pouring out one after another. The performance that spells out such a set is also very powerful. There are some scenes, such as the MC talking about his first visit to Japan, that bring you back to long memories, but the performance itself is so powerful that you can’t believe it’s the last. There are many veterans who need to improve their memories, but their sharpness and power make me think, “I still have a lot more to offer.” 42 years have passed since Nippon Budokan in 1977. The end has finally come. Of course, the Osaka performance is currently underway, and the Nagoya performance is just around the corner. However, the “Tokyo show” that held 26 performances is no longer there. There is not the slightest bit of somberness in the show, but it is still a live album that can’t hold back the overflowing emotions.
