Description
KISS’s “LICK IT UP Tour” revealed their true faces and was reborn as a talented rock band. The highest peak update version of that precious professional shot is here. This work contains two videos that recorded one show. It is a multi-camera professional shot of the “Madrid performance on October 14, 1983”. Speaking of 1983, it was the most important turning point when two tours, “CREATURES OF THE NIGHT Tour” and “LICK IT UP Tour”, stood side by side and made-up / no-makeup switched depending on the time. First of all, let’s take a bird’s-eye view of the activities of the Vinnie Vincent era and check the position of this work. 1982《October 13th “CREATURES OF THE NIGHT” released》《December: Vinnie Vincent joins》*December 29th-31st: North America #1 (3 shows)1983*January 1st-April 3rd: North America #2 (50 shows)*June 18th-25th: South America (3 shows)←※RIO 1983《September 23rd “LICK IT UP” released》・October 11th-November 25th: Europe (35 shows)←★here★・December 26th-31st: North America #3 (5 shows)1984・January 1st-March 17th: North America #4 (53 shows)《March: Vinnie Vincent leaves》※Note: “*” marks live shows with makeup, “・” marks live shows without makeup. This is KISS in the Vinnie era. Speaking of the representative professional shots of that time, there is also “RIO 1983: TV BROADCAST”, but that was the “CREATURES OF THE NIGHT Tour” where he was wearing makeup. The Madrid performance of this work is the third concert of the “LICK IT UP Tour” where he removed his makeup. This show is also known for being broadcast on TV, and has been known as the first video to convey his no-makeup appearance. This work is a two-disc set that includes two of the highest peak masters. Let’s introduce each one individually. DISC 1: Original broadcast version with live performances as the main focus In the first place, there are two types of broadcasts of this show, and the main role of this work is the “original broadcast version” composed of live scenes. It is a digest edit of about 56 minutes according to the broadcast frame, so it is not full, but you can enjoy the extremely valuable “no-makeup Vinnie era” stage. Moreover, this work has been made into a DVD from the highest peak updated master. Conventional masters were covered with dubbing marks and were blurred, or many of them were so crushed that you couldn’t even see the face, but this work is clear and clear. Since there are occasional white line noises, I can’t claim that it’s “completely official grade!”, but the beauty of this footage is shocking considering how it has been up until now. The beauty of the footage, where you can see Paul’s biceps peeking out from the sleeveless sleeve, is on a completely different level, and Vinnie’s face without makeup is also clear. DISC 2: Interview-based version (about 39 minutes) DISC 2 is a different broadcast featuring the same show. This is about 39 minutes long and is mainly an interview with the members without makeup. Both Gene and Paul are answering questions, but it seems that they are still not used to being exposed to the media without makeup. It is nice to see them not calming down while their partner is talking and constantly worrying about the camera. In between these interviews, live pro shots (4 songs + bass solo) from the Madrid performance are inserted, which is also not to be underestimated. The performance/filming is the same as DISC 1, but it is actually casually edited separately. The main difference is the switching, and there are cuts that were not seen on DISC 1. So, what kind of songs can you see? Let’s organize the two types of footage together here. 70’s (6 songs) KISS: Cold Gin / Firehouse (★) / Gimme More / Black Diamond Others: Detroit Rock City (★) / Love Gun 80’s (5 songs) CREATURES OF THE NIGHT: War Machine / I Love It Loud (★) / I Still Love You LICK IT UP: Young and Wasted / Lick It Up (★) *Note: Songs marked with “★” have two takes. … and so on. Although it is far from perfect as a musical work, with cuts on “I Still Love You” and “Black Diamond”, the “LICK IT UP Tour” is still a wonderful sight. In particular, “Gimme More” and “Young and Wasted” are rare throughout history and are valuable songs that have not been seen in any era of the official “KISSOLOGY” series. Even in “KISSOLOGY VOLUME TWO”, only two songs from the Lisbon performance could be seen in the “no makeup Vinnie era”. This is the highest peak update master of the representative video that allows you to enjoy such a precious era. A two-disc set that completely covers the professional shots born from the 1982 Madrid performance. A multi-camera professional shot of the “Madrid performance on October 14, 1983”. A two-disc set that completely covers two broadcasts, the “original broadcast version (about 56 minutes)” and the “full interview version (about 39 minutes)”, which are mainly live performances, both of which are the highest peak update masters with different dimensions from the conventional ones. This is an extremely rare professional shot where you can see the “LICK IT UP Tour” where Vinnie Vincent without makeup goes wild.
