Description

The cult film “KISS MEETS THE PHANTOM OF THE PARK” was produced in 1978 at the height of its popularity. The ultimate version of this famous film will be permanently preserved on 3 DVDs! There is no film more worthy of being called a “strange film” than “KISS MEETS THE PHANTOM OF THE PARK”. At that time, KISS was breaking the norm with their makeup and completely taking over the music scene. The drama was conceived as the “next step” to make use of that persona. A superhero film was produced by “Hanna-Barbera Productions”, which is also famous for “Tom and Jerry”. Apparently Gene was not satisfied with the result (Ace recalls that it was a “funny movie” and “fun”), but it became a hidden masterpiece that boasts a strong cult popularity among fans. In addition, several versions of this film were created during the production and release process. This work is a compilation of three particularly important and valuable versions in the best master. This is a three-disc set that will permanently preserve the masterpiece movie of the century in the ultimate specifications. What are the three versions? Let’s introduce each disc in chronological order. DISC 1: The original US broadcast version of superb quality Original editing different from the commercial version This movie was first released on October 28, 1978. It was a TV movie broadcast on the American network NBC. Disc 1 of this work is a DVD of the first broadcast from the best master. Currently, the most famous version of this movie is the official version included in “KISSOLOGY”, but the content of the initial TV broadcast version is significantly different. The theatrical release version (described below) included in “KISSOLOGY” was about 86 minutes long, while the broadcast version was about 95 minutes long and even longer. There are many scenes that are not in the theatrical version. The key point is Ace’s lines. Apparently, the production team originally intended to make Ace and Peter characters who only say “Ack!”, but Ace was outraged by this. He threatened to quit and made them add more lines. In the end, Ace’s lines were cut out quite a bit (not all of them) in the later commercialized version (theatrical release version), but many of them remained in the initial TV broadcast version. Another-dimensional visual beauty that transcends common sense and time and space And this work is the highest peak master of such a precious version. It is the original air check master brought by our own related route, but the screen in front of me does not seem real. Of course, since it is a TV broadcast in 1978, the feel is analog, but it is hard to believe that it was recorded 46 years ago. In particular, there is no fading or discoloration of any kind, and the beauty of the clear blue sky is as vivid as if you were looking at the scenery outside the window. Furthermore, it is a sense of stability that turns common sense upside down. Not only is there no white line noise, but there is no distortion from corner to corner of the screen, and there is no running twist. Due to the era, it should definitely be recorded on tape, but it is as glossy as a laser disc. Extremely rare related bonus footage Although the original broadcast version alone is full of chest, this disc also contains five more extremely rare bonus footage. First up are two trailers produced in West Germany. The film was broadcast on TV in the US in 1978, but the following year in 1979 it was renamed “ATTACK OF THE PHANTOMS” and released in theaters in Europe. It was produced for the purpose of advertising the film, and includes two versions, German and English. Next up are the PVs for “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” and “Sure Know Something.” The theatrical release version not only has a different title, but the content has also been significantly re-edited. The PV scenes for these two songs are also included. This work also includes the original PVs in the best quality. Finally, there is an announcement video from when the film was rebroadcast in 1986. The five bonus videos are also permanently preserved as the highest quality masters brought to us by unique related parties, just like the main film. DISC 2: Theatrical release version with Japanese subtitles The most beautiful official digital master The next disc 2 is the theatrical release version in Europe mentioned above. It has also been released on VHS/LD, but the best quality is the digital version included in “KISSOLOGY”. This version is especially complete with Japanese subtitles, and the contents of the film can be intuitively understood. Disc 1/3 is the lifeblood of this film in terms of rarity, but it’s better to first understand the contents with Disc 2. Theatrical release version with different screen size, composition, and music Of course, the content is also very different from the other two versions. The screen size itself is a wide screen size, but more importantly, the editing has changed significantly. Although the length is slightly shorter than the TV broadcast version (DISC 1), this is not simply because it has been cut. It includes many scenes that were not in the TV broadcast, and the order of events has been boldly changed. The tempo is better than the TV broadcast version, making it easier to understand the contents. Even more important is the background music in various places. The TV broadcast version had many ordinary soundtracks produced by “Hanna-Barbera Productions,” but the theatrical version replaced them with original songs by KISS themselves. In particular, songs from the solo albums of the four members, which had just been released at the time, are used extensively. The fighting scenes between the four are a major highlight of this movie, but the songs they performed are even more exciting. DISC 3: The latest fan edit version that has achieved the ultimate evolution The latest version of the gem that has significantly updated the longest and highest peak And the last disc 3 is the latest version produced by an overseas enthusiast. “Fan-made” is often looked down upon, but in fact this is the best masterpiece. The biggest point is that it is the longest version that includes all scenes from the TV broadcast version and the theatrical release version. As mentioned above, the TV broadcast version and the theatrical release version had unique scenes that did not overlap with each other, but disc 3 contains all of them. In addition, it makes full use of outtakes that are not in either version, unique live pro shots, and comic frame footage. It is about 100 minutes long, longer than both the TV broadcast version (about 95 minutes) and the theatrical version (about 86 minutes). The modern standard of fan-made works discussed at the level of aesthetics What’s even more surprising is that it’s not just a complete version. The sense and technique of editing is extraordinary, and the workmanship is also amazing. The TV broadcast version and the movie version were each produced so that the story could run through them, but if you just connect all the scenes from both, the story will be torn apart. There will be no plot or anything. Perhaps because of this, in this version, each scene is rearranged into a third sequence that is different from both the TV broadcast version and the movie version. It is structured to be a proper story work. And the connection is also artistic. It seems to be based on the most beautiful “KISSOLOGY” version, but the images inserted there are not just unified in screen size and texture. Sometimes the difference in image quality is used to create a vintage film production, or skillfully connected with overlapping fades and cuts. The love and aesthetics of the maniac are permeated from the first second to the last second, including the opening and ending with a unique live pro shot that is full of mood. That’s all for 4 hours and 54 minutes of precious footage. The super rare best master of the original broadcast version (DISC 1), the digital master of the theatrical release version with Japanese subtitles (DISC 2), and the supreme peak version born from modern fan art culture (DISC 3). This is the ultimate 3-disc set that permanently preserves a rare cult film with three ultimate masters. A big set that is nothing but a cultural heritage. A 3-disc set of 3 ultimate masters of the cult film “KISS MEETS THE PHANTOM OF THE PARK”. A set of the original TV broadcast version (DISC 1), the theatrical release version with Japanese subtitles (DISC 2), and the fan-made version (DISC 3) that makes full use of both and significantly updates the longest and highest peak. This is a cultural heritage set that allows you to get the most beautiful masters of three versions that are significantly different not only in quality but also in content.
