Description

The most recent work released by Mirrored Masters is the Kinks’ 1983 LA Forum. Speaking of their records by Millard, the release of “LOS ANGELES 1978: MIKE MILLARD SECOND GENERATION TAPES” released last year is also fresh in my memory, but this time the year 1983 is the secret. “LOS ANGELES 1978~” captured their stage just before their popularity exploded in America, but this time it is a document from the time when they were enjoying the peak of their popularity in America. Speaking of the 1983 American tour, it is also fresh in my memory that UXBRIDGE released “MILWAUKEE 1983” last year, which made maniacs wonder “Isn’t this a soundboard?” with its intense quality audience recording. Or. In addition, that was a superb document from the 1983 tour “North America #2”, but this time it was two weeks after Milwaukee, and Millard went to the LA Forum performance that was also realized in “North America #2”. In other words, the fact that there are two types of audience recordings of unparalleled quality from the same tour indicates the peak of popularity. At this point, the new album “STATE OF CONFUSION” had not been released yet, but the venue was buzzing with excitement as their single “Come Dancing” had already become a huge hit the previous year. “MILWAUKEE 1983” had a truly shocking quality, but of course Millard’s recording is also comparable. Not only does it have the usual strong sound pressure, but it also has a warm, expansive sense of presence that is typical of him, giving it a different appeal than “MILWAUKEE 1983.” The exquisite balance and sense of presence in the opening song “Around The Dial” that calls for Ray Davies’ signature call-and-response is the true essence of Millard, and if you close your eyes, you’ll be transported back in time to the 1983 LA Forum. It makes you feel like you did it. According to the JEMS team that released this video, the quality rank was written as “Fair” in the sound source memo that Millard left behind, but it is unclear why he gave such a harsh rating to such a recording. It’s no surprise that he said no… In particular, the sound pressure and vividness of Dave Davis’ guitar is overwhelming. Rather, unfortunately, the whereabouts of the second cassette that captured the final stage of the live performance was unknown, and it was released in an incomplete state. Despite being a mirrored recording and capturing the peak of Kinks’ popularity in the 1980s, this was the reason why it was released on CD-R this time. However, 70% of the day was captured, and the enthusiasm of the LA Forum in 1983 was more than enough. This was the Kinks at a time when arenas and stadiums were commonplace in America. And fortunately, the final number “Bernadette” of “STATE OF CONFUSION”, which was not played in Milwaukee, was recorded. It is valuable that the scene where they were considering introducing a new song repertoire ahead of the album release is captured, and the hard and wild performance is also wonderful. Above all, it is special to be able to listen to the Kinks’ stage at the peak of their popularity in the 80’s in mirrored quality. Millard was amazing this time too!
