Description

Island, who made Bob Marley famous all over the world, was able to secure his long-awaited contract, and with his world debut, the African treasure that shook the world is truly the king! King Sunny Ade and his proud members’ miraculous first performance in Japan, and their only live performance in Tokyo, is now available in a significantly longer version, including songs that were not aired at the time! ! Ade and his African Beats completed their US tour in 1983 with great success, and it was decided that they would perform in Japan the following year in 1984. However, the schedule was platinum, with only two performances in total, one in Osaka and one in Tokyo. The intense live performance at the legendary Yoyogi Daiichi Gymnasium, which was the only Tokyo performance from that Japan performance, was breath-taking before the air check sound source with a wide dynamic range and tonal reproducibility. From the Pre-FM master of , a long version of the 2-disc set, which is about twice the size of the one that was aired at the time, is now available on a miraculous super high-quality stereo sound board that has been carefully mastered by the label. did! ! Amid the news of the previous year’s US tour and the excitement at the Montreux Jazz Festival, there was a growing desire for Ade to come to Japan. The Japanese performance was decided there. And it’s only one day…the excitement of the day is already strong. Following the MC, one of the member’s guitarists appeared and played a minimalist riff, with a crisp sense of rhythm. Immediately, almost the entire audience was on their feet, and the other members appeared one after another following the guitar, and when the talking drummer, who is the heart of this band, finally appeared, the excitement in the venue was at its peak. Then, the dancers/chorus group, and finally Ade appeared and started singing, and the voltage in the venue went up a notch. The tempo of each song is faster than the studio-recorded performances I listened to on records, and the talking drums move around freely as if they were having a conversation, threading the polyrhythm of the rhythm guitar, and the juju. The characteristic steel guitar was intertwined in a very pleasant manner, and Ade’s singing and backing chorus carried the audience along… It felt like the entire venue had been swept away to the land of Africa, and everyone there was experiencing a culture shock. It is no exaggeration to say that! Live at Kokuritu Yoyogi Kouugijyou Yoyogi,Tokyo,Jaoan October 26.1984 Disc 1 1. Gbeyo Gbeyo 2. Synchro Feelings 3. Ja Funmi 4. Ma Jaiye Oni / Guitar Work 5. Ase 6.
