Description

The Memphis audience recording, which has never been released in any form, is a truly rough recording (laughs). The surrounding noise is reminiscent of the nostalgic CD “L.A. CONNECTION” that contains the LA performance. In addition, there are even parts where the fans on the left and right are talking to each other. The sound quality itself is also quite rough. The blessing in disguise is that the surroundings are not female screams like “L.A. CONNECTION”, but rather enthusiastic male fans who love Keith. Their reaction was very enthusiastic about the songs on “TALK IS CHAP”, and they even sang together in the second half of the live “Locked Away”. Of course, it is undoubtedly harsh to the ears, but it conveys the enthusiasm that they really loved Keith and participated in the event. Also, the pitch was high overall, so by adjusting that, it is much easier to hear than the original state (come to think of it, “L.A.~” was also high pitched). There is a reason why such a rough recording was released, and this is the second day of the “TALK IS CHAP” tour. When you listen to it, Keith’s voice is in a terrible state from the opening song “Take It So Hard”, and he can’t sing at all. If it was towards the end of the tour, he might have been tired, but this is only the second day of the tour. This tour was the first time for Keith to be the frontman, and he had to sing every stage. If it was the beginning of the tour, he would have been nervous because he was not used to it, and he probably didn’t even think about saving his voice, which is necessary to complete the schedule. In Atlanta, the day before and the first day of the tour, he was too excited, and maybe the after-party after the first day was also added to that, but Keith here was not singing at the beginning of the live show. In “Whip It Up”, there is a scene where he misses the riff at a strange timing, but this may be the result of him being upset that he cannot sing as he wants. In addition, “Big Enough” was omitted only on this day, but I wonder if that was also a judgment based on Keith’s poor condition in the first half. Fortunately, the tour was structured so that Sarah Dash sang two songs in the middle, and Keith’s condition, which was unbearable in the first half, was somehow restored. Furthermore, the taper who recorded this sound source is a considerable maniac who turned the recorder on before the opening and recorded the rehearsal of “Time Is On My Side” played by her. However, during the recording, another fan talked to her, and the scene was recorded perfectly. I want to convey the atmosphere unique to the beginning of this precious tour, so I will release it, even though it is a rough sound source. I am amazed at how Keith struggled so much here.
