Description

The masterpiece stereo soundboard album “COLOGNE 1992 SOUNDBOARD MASTER” from the 1992 tour with “MAIN OFFENDER” has just been released, but in fact, before the 1992 tour started in Europe, Argentina had a one-off performance in Buenos Aires. Moreover, it was a concert at a stadium, a vast outdoor venue that Expensive Wines had never experienced before. Furthermore, the day’s pattern was broadcast on Argentine television, so a professional shot video was produced. Naturally, it is a soundboard, but since it is a South American television broadcast in 1992, the audio is mono. Therefore, there are fewer soundboard titles released in real time than in Cologne, and the impression is that the enthusiasts at that time were rather familiar with the video on VHS. However, this time, the British heavyweight Taper provided us with mono audio recorded from the broadcast at that time. Therefore, it is a super clear soundboard that is in a different dimension from the audio of the video currently seen on YouTube. Moreover, the volume of Keith’s guitar is loud and noticeable throughout the show, and the balance is so attractive that it almost drowns out the sound of Waddy Wachtel. This sound has a low sense of realism, and the balance is close to that of a PA soundboard. However, on the other hand, it is clear and has good sound penetration, and is not as peculiar as a simple PA soundboard. Because of this, the enthusiasm of the vast stadium is not transmitted, but with such a clear monaural soundboard, you should not feel unsatisfied when listening. It is a soundboard with such a clear and clear sound. What is particularly noteworthy is that Keith is so relaxed that it is hard to believe that this is his first live performance in 1992. This is in stark contrast to the first half of the live performance in Cologne, where he was a little tense. Moreover, this is a live performance in a venue much larger than Cologne. This is largely due to the enthusiastic reaction of the audience in Buenos Aires. As Keith himself wrote in his autobiography, this experience is spoken of as a very fond memory. Even though the recording quality was low, the cheerful South American-style “Ole Ole” chorus could still be heard from a distance between songs. Thanks to the enthusiastic reception, Keith and the others were quickly relieved of the tension of the first stage. And with the European tour starting in Cologne three weeks away, this day was certainly a warm-up. The set list was different from the tour three weeks later, and it was interesting to see the live show close with “Connection” at this point. And yet, “Runnin’ Too Deep” from the new album, which was not performed in Cologne, was performed at the beginning of the live show. On the other hand, it cannot be denied that the new songs have not yet been refined as repertoire. In the end, neither this song nor “Connection” was performed in Cologne, and it was only after the European tour had progressed that they were performed again. In this way, not only is the recording condition of the sound board different from Cologne, but the repertoire and atmosphere are also different, which is typical of Keith. This is a literally cheerful soundboard album that captures the first South American and stadium performance by the Wino’s, which was supported by a cheerful Buenos Aires audience, in the clearest sound quality!
