Description

The 1989 Stockholm performance, said to be a masterpiece by the Keith Trio, which had only been circulated among some collectors, has finally been released as a two-disc set, completely recorded over 145 minutes of all 11 songs, including the longest ever recording, and recorded on the highest quality sound board ever! ! The trio consisting of Keith, DeJohnette, and Peacock, who first met on the masterpiece “Tales of Another” released by Gary Peacock in 1977, was gathered again by Manfred Eicher in 1983 and released three albums at once, “Standards Vol.1”, “Standards Vol.2”, and “Changes”. Since the three were the leading improvisers in the jazz world, it was surprising to hear them play traditional, orthodox standards, but the standard that we were used to hearing was given new life by these three, who had the outstanding technique and innovative approach that no one else had been able to achieve before, and it was reborn as a completely different song as if it was an original piece by the three, and it was highly praised all over the world. Since then, they have continued to be active at the forefront for over 40 years, rewriting the history of jazz piano trios… In 1989, when the trio was still in its early stages and all three were young and energetic, Keith spent the first half of the year playing solo and the second half playing with the trio, and the trio performed more than 20 concerts. This work was recorded at the Berwald Concert Hall in Stockholm, Sweden on October 3, 1989. The longest recording among some collectors was about 130 minutes, but this time, including songs that have not been heard before, it is the longest complete version of all 11 songs, which is of course the first to be released on a sound board. Moreover, the sound quality is also superior to the underground tapes, and it is the definitive version that has been carefully mastered by the label! ! The method of adding a new interpretation to famous jazz standards and cooking them as if they were original works of this trio is nothing other than a new trio jazz. In fact, they also play original works of the trio, but the boundaries are not clear. Here is a performance that can only be achieved when all elements are perfect, such as sensitivity, sense, and mutual trust that cannot be expressed by technique alone! ! There are not many performances that make you feel happy just by listening to them! ! The set list included 11 wonderful songs, including “The Way You Look Tonight,” “Ballad of the Sad Young Man,” “The Long Blues,” “Sweet and Lovely,” “Solar,” and more!
