Description
One year after her performance in Japan last year, Kara Bonoff has returned to Japan as a duo with Nina Gerber. Two of her latest original recordings will be released at the same time. Recently, Carla has been coming to Japan every other year, but this time she is back in Japan for a full year. Just like Zenkai, we held 6 performances: 2 2-day performances in Tokyo and 2 1-day performances in Osaka. Two of her latest live albums are now available at our store. This first work is an audience recording of “September 3, 2019: Tokyo (night performance)”. First of all, let’s check the show position from the Japan schedule that just ended and get up. ・September 2: Tokyo (evening performance) ・September 2: Tokyo (evening performance) ・September 3: Tokyo (evening performance) ・September 3: Tokyo (evening performance) ←★This work★・September 6th “OSAKA 2019” 6 performances over 3 days. What is included in this work was the last stage of the 4 performances in Tokyo. This work that recorded such a show is truly an exquisite audience recording. What’s most wonderful is the atmosphere and strong core that makes you feel like you’re actually there. The venue is a club-sized venue that has become familiar to visitors to Japan in recent years, and the sense of scale is also reflected in the sound. Its size, which can accommodate approximately 300 people, evokes a sense of intimacy and privacy. Although it is a little different from the close contact of a soundboard, the core reaches straight from Kara’s mouth to the microphone, and you can clearly feel the emotion contained in each word and syllable of the lyrics. Moreover, it is powerful. The way the core is transmitted doesn’t feel like it’s “drifting” through the atmosphere, but rather it feels like it’s “pushing through” the air. Each guitar picking and piano touch is a sound that feels like it’s coming close to you. What’s more, it’s not just clear. The venue has the close-knit feel of a club, but has a high ceiling, giving off a faint sound that feels like it’s pouring down from the heavens. This is exquisite. The close physical distance creates a strong core, while the pouring sound creates a mysterious mood and exquisite luster. Moreover, the two guitars are intertwined and never mix. In reality, it is a club recording, but it is a beautiful recording that feels like watching a live performance at a church. What is depicted with such a sound is something similar and different from last year. Let’s organize the contents of the set here. ●KARLA BONOFF (2 songs)・*Home, *Someone to Lay Down Beside Me ●RESTLESS NIGHTS (5 songs)・Trouble Again, *Restless Nights, *Only A Fool, When You Walk In The Room, *The Water Is Wide ●NEW WORLD (2 songs)・*New World, *Goodbye My Friend ●Other (4 songs)・Please Be the One (WILD HEART OF THE YOUNG), *Carry Me Home (CARRY ME HOME), *Something Fine (Jackson) Brown), Imagine (John Lennon) *Note: Songs marked with an asterisk (*) were also included in “CARRY ME HOME.” …and it looks like this. The centerpiece is “RESTLESS NIGHTS,” which is not only a masterpiece, but also celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. The balance between each album is similar to last year, and “Imagine”, which is performed as a cover of Jackson Browne and Nina’s solo, has been consistent since 2016. This is a style that is in line with recent trends. However, the breakdown differs from performance to performance, and the songs that could not be heard on last year’s live album “TOKYO 2018” include “Someone to Lay Down Beside Me,” “The Water Is Wide,” “Please Be the One,” and “New World.” You can also enjoy a lot of “Goodbye My Friend”. Carla once again delivered a delicate, powerful and beautiful voice this year. This is a masterpiece where you can enjoy the scene with the best sound that is both real and mysterious. Live in Japan was realized on the anniversary year of “RESTLESS NIGHTS” (the release 40 years ago was also in September).
