Karen Carpenter/Unreleased Solo Tracks 1979-1980

Karen Carpenter recorded between May 1979 and January 1980, but has been shelved ever since. Now, thanks to a leak from a related source, this unreleased recording is here in master quality. First of all, the unreleased recordings related to the Carpenters have been strictly managed by her brother Richard, and have never been leaked to the public, making this a valuable recording. Speaking of Karen’s solo work, while “Distant First Love,” officially released in 1996, is well known, she actually completed an album in 1980, but her brother Richard and the recording staff stopped writing songs because the lyrics were not typical of the Carpenters, that is, they contained lyrics that expressed or were reminiscent of sexual intercourse, and the album was shelved. A few songs from this unfinished album were released on the Carpenters’ album “Love Lines” in 1989 after Karen’s death, and it was not released until 1996. However, it was known that there were tracks that were not included on this album, and now all nine tracks have finally been unearthed and are seeing the light of day. Although the quality varies depending on the song, with some songs being poor quality, mono, and some not counting due to aging, all the songs are in their best sound quality, including a cover of Martha & the Vandellas’ “Jimmy Mack.” There are also many songs that make you want Richard to make a Carpenters version, and many songs that are so complete that you wonder why they were scrapped. Moreover, the album was produced by the famous Phil Ramone, and the participating members were a luxurious group of members such as Greg Phillingens, who would later become the bandmaster of the Clapton band, and members of the Billy Joel band, so the performances around there are also worth checking out.
