Description
KANSAS in the era of John Elefante, a singular point in history. The super best soundboard album has been newly discovered and will be released urgently. This work includes “Norman performance on July 24, 1982”. This is a superb stereo soundboard recording recorded in one act of “VINYL CONFESSIONS TOUR”. Although they were doing well at the time, with their single “Play the Game Tonight” reaching number 17 in the U.S. and their album “VINYL CONFESSIONS” reaching number 16, looking back, it was also the beginning of the end for them to cease their activities. First of all, let’s check the show’s position from the schedule at that time. [June “VINYL CONFESSIONS” released] ・July 10th – August 15th: North America #1 (19 performances) ←★Here★ ・August 25th – September 25th: North America #2 (14 performances)・October 9th-31st: North America #3 (5 performances) This is KANSAS in 1982. The tour, which is about half of what it was in its heyday, was limited to North America. The Norman performance of this work was the 8th concert of “North America #1”, which is the opening stage. In addition, the official video “LIVE CONFESSIONS” of this tour remains, but the scene was the Omaha performance on “July 21st (some say July 30th)”. This work was also three days later. This work recorded at such a show is a superb stereo sound board that is truly “super”. Even if you say “sound board”, it has a wide variety of individualities, but this product is a type that is directly connected to a mix table. A leaked cassette was recorded directly from the table by a band official, and although the loud cheers can be heard far away, the performance itself is extremely vivid down to the smallest detail. You will be struck by the feeling of being buried inside the band’s own brain with their bare feet, and you will be able to experience a sense of synchronization that goes beyond reality, with your whole body in perfect sync with the instruments and live music. It is a show from the Elephante era that is extremely rare and is depicted on a super-class sound board. In fact, the film’s biggest (and only) flaw is the ending. Since it fades out at the ending part of the final song “Down The Road”, it cannot be said to be “completely recorded!”, but it is still overwhelmingly punishing, surpassing the official video “LIVE CONFESSIONS”. Let’s compare and organize them here. Steve Walsh Era (10 songs)・Songs for America: Down The Road・Masque: Mysteries and Mayhem・Eternal Overture; Miracles Out Of Nowhere (★)/Carry On Wayward Son・Towed Into Darkness: Paradox/ Sparks Of The Tempest/Dust In The Wind/Portrait (He Knew)・Audio Vision: No One Together/Hold On Vinyl Confession (8 songs)・Windows/Right Away/Diamonds and Pearls/Chasing Shadows/Crossfire/Face It /Fair Exchange (★)/ Play The Game Tonight *Note: Songs marked with “★” were not heard in the official video “LIVE CONFESSIONS”. …and it looks like this. The album is well-balanced, with a lineup of representative songs from the Walsh era, and about half of them are new songs from “VINYL CONFESSIONS.” The extremely rare song “Fair Exchange” that cannot be heard on “LIVE CONFESSIONS” is noticeable, but not only that, but also “Windows”, “Right Away”, “Diamonds and Pearls”, and “Face It” are featured on the next “DRASTIC MEASURES TOUR” “But it’s a limited song only for this tour that hasn’t been played. And even in the past repertoire, you can experience valuable versions such as “Miracles Out Of Nowhere” and “No One Together” that have been changed with Elefante’s singing voice in super high quality. It’s a shame that it only fades out at the very end, but that’s the only drawback. It is a masterpiece where you can enjoy almost the full show of KANSAS from the Elephante era with a transcendental sound that surpasses the official one. I can’t stop listening to underground music because I suddenly come across a live album like this. A shocking new excavation that brings out such emotion.
