Kamasi Washington has been devoted to music since childhood. Today, he is said to be the Kamasi Washington of the West, as opposed to the Robert Glasper of the East, and as the standard-bearer of today’s hottest “currently active” jazz, Kamasi has expanded and evolved through his encounters with contemporary black music and rock.
