Description

Introducing a powerful historical album from British HR! This work is an audience recording when JUDAS PRIEST appeared at the Reading Festival in 1975. Currently, the recording of “Reading Festival 1975” has been discovered on the internet and is becoming a hot topic, but in addition to that master, this work also includes another master that was released for the first time in the world and provided by the recording artist himself. What’s more, it’s a 2-disc set with a DVD containing footage from the scene! It’s not only a live record of PRIEST’s very early days, but it’s also a British hard masterpiece that fully conveys the atmosphere of the mid-’70s!!Let’s start with the CD. “RECORDER 1”, which is included first, is a long master that lets you listen to the entire live performance. The sound is a very neat vintage sound. Although it breathes in plenty of the atmosphere of the times, it has nothing to do with explosive sounds or crashing sounds. It is a clear recording that even those who are new to 70’s audience recording can easily listen to. This is a sound source that has appeared on the internet in recent years, but since there was a gap in the middle part (6:48-7:32) of the first song “Victim Of Changes”, we supplemented it with “RECORDER 2” described later and realized the full length version of the concert. did. And, the original master “RECORDER 2” will be the first release of three songs, tracks 10-12, worldwide. I digitized it directly from a cassette that I received directly from a Japanese taper who was in England at the time. It’s surprising that a Japanese rock fan even went to England in that era 40 years ago, but to think that he was recording JUDAS PRIEST from an unknown era who was there… What’s more, the sound easily surpasses even “RECORDER 1”, which shocked enthusiasts all over the world! If you listen to the complementary part of track 1 “Victim Of Changes”, you will understand that the clarity is as clear as if you were wearing well-fitted glasses, and it will wake you up. It’s only 3 songs, but it’s a world-shaking discovery! The very early PRIEST live performance revived by two masters is a masterpiece packed with the flavor of British rock. There is only one title song from the debut album “ROCKA ROLLA”. A large amount of “SAD WINGS OF DESTINY”, which has not been recorded yet, was played, and the stage where the dramaticism violently fluctuated was a masterpiece. Rob’s screams are also sharp enough to tear through silk. This exquisite voice is on a completely different level from the “good and bad” that will be talked about in later live performances. Even the voices that I felt until now, “Wow, Rob was amazing on this day!” are nothing compared to this work. The pinnacle of being a vocalist varies from person to person, but in Rob’s case it was definitely 1975. What’s even more exciting is the unreleased song “Mother Sun.” One theory is that the song is also called “Father Mother Son,” but it’s an epic poem that begins with a dramatic twin harmony and spreads out the same world view as “SAD WINGS OF DESTINY” for nine and a half minutes. Rob manipulates the song in a phantasmagoric manner, colliding with tearful twin solos and melodies. “SAD WINGS OF DESTINY” seems to have gathered the essence of British hard, and it is a song that is too dark, too vivid, and too beautiful, as if the concentrated extract has been further compressed and solidified. I had heard of its existence and the name of the song, but I had no idea it was this great… Unreleased songs found on bootlegs are a joy to discover, and just the presence of a good melody can make you feel happy and think, “This is a masterpiece!” However, this “Mother Sun” is a masterpiece that will make you scream “A super, super masterpiece!” (Why, why wasn’t it announced!?). Now, finally the DVD. This is 8mm film taken on-site by the Japanese taper of “RECORDER 2”. Although it is only a little under 3 minutes long, the color video that beautifully records the precious performance is a treasure. The audio is covered with “RECORDER 2”. The sense of history in this video is truly amazing. The mid-1970s was a time when video cameras were not yet widely available, and there were almost no “audience shots.” An authentic British HR festival from that era will be unfolding right in front of your eyes. What’s more, since the photographer himself is the master, the freshness is unparalleled. Not only JUDAS PRIEST in his flutter costume era, but also the realism of the audience is amazing. An audience unique to the mid-1970s who enjoyed it intensely, with a different vibe from either 60s psych or 80s headbanging. Audiences in this era were all about the artificial syllables of broadcasting stations and those who couldn’t see well in the dark at concerts. However, this video clearly shows the audience thoroughly enjoying JUDAS PRIEST at a rock festival where the sun is high. I don’t remember any video that captured the “first generation metal kids” so realistically. Steve Harris started IRON MAIDEN in the winter of 1975, six months after this work. Harris cannot be seen in this video, but he may have been inside. A super valuable video that goes beyond the framework of “because it’s JUDAS PRIEST” and captures the truth of the British rock scene. That’s why I couldn’t help but press it for just under 3 minutes! In 1975, JUDAS PRIEST carried heavy metal in their womb and continued to explore and experiment to see how dramatic rock could be. The ultimate world of British HR, which until now could only be felt through the masterpiece “SAD WINGS OF DESTINY”, is a book that suddenly becomes colorful and vivid. Moreover, it is imbued with a sense of history that goes beyond the records of a single band, and absorbs the realism of the audience. Of course, PRIEST fans and heavy metal fans will enjoy listening to it, but those who love the history of British rock may be able to enjoy the true charm of this work even more. A heavy, rich and dazzling historical record for both JUDAS PRIEST and British HR. Delivered as a 2-disc set of CD and DVD that will make your shine last forever!
