Description
JUDAS PRIEST came to Japan for the first time in three years with their concept album “NOSTRADAMUS”. The best original recording that conveys the scene is here. This work is recorded at the “September 29, 2008: Nippon Budokan” performance. This is the best audience recording. The released “BUDOKAN 2005 DAT MASTERS” has also been well received, but of course this work is a different performance. This is a good opportunity, so let’s check the position of this work from their Budokan history this time. September 13, 1984 “FAST & FURIOUS (First Budokan)” December 4, 1986: Nippon Budokan May 18, 2005 “BUDOKAN 2005 DAT MASTERS” May 19, 2005 “BUDOKAN 2005 DAT MASTERS” September 29, 2008: Nippon Budokan ←★This work★ February 17, 2012 (after KK Downing left the band) “BUDOKAN 2012” March 11, 2015 “REDEEMER OF SOULS IN TOKYO” A total of seven performances. In this way, we have archived all Budokan performances except for the 1986 performance during the “Turbo” era in live albums. In particular, three performances were held between Rob Halford’s return and KK Downing’s departure, and this work and the recent four-disc set “BUDOKAN 2005 DAT MASTERS” can be completed. Moreover, this work is not just the same venue, but it is a genuine sister work of the previous work “BUDOKAN 2005 DAT MASTERS”. In fact, both works are works by the same recorder. And the sound also supports that fact. If you have experienced the previous work, you may have already made up your mind, but if the core is very thick, there is no sense of distance at all. Along with that, the details are also super clear, and it is a mystery how they can record so directly at the Budokan. The enthusiasm before the show and between songs is real, so you won’t mistake it for a sound board, but you will forget it as soon as the performance starts. It is a superb sound that is completely away from the audience and away from the Budokan. Such a sound depicts a full show that has changed from the previous work. The set is the standard one for the “NOSTRADAMUS Tour”, and is the same as the standard pro shot “THE VOICE OF GOD”. However, since this is also a sister collection, let’s organize it here by comparing it with the previous work “BUDOKAN 2005 DAT MASTERS”. After the reunion (3 songs + α) Nostradamus: Dawn Of Creation (★) / Prophecy (★) / Death (★) Angel of Retribution: Angel Classics (14 songs) Cry of Vengeance: Devil’s Child (★) / Electric Eye / You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’ Painkiller: Between the Hammer and the Anvil (★) / Hell Patrol (★) / Painkiller Others: Dissident Aggressor (★) / Sinner (★) / Hell Bent for Leather / The Green Manalishi (With the Two Prong Crown) (★) / Metal Gods / Breaking the Law / Eat Me Alive (★) / Rock Hard, Ride Free (★) *Note: The “★” marks are songs that could not be heard on “BUDOKAN 2005 DAT MASTERS”. …And so it goes. The absolute must-have classics are the same, but the rest are mostly replaced. In particular, “Rock Hard, Ride Free”, “Between the Hammer and the Anvil”, and the new song “Death” are delicious rare songs that have not been played since this tour. And the best of all is “Eat Me Alive”. Most of the songs on “The Law of Immoral” were played on the tour at that time, but the only one that was left out was “Eat Me Alive”. It was finally performed live, but in fact, this song was only played on the “NOSTRADAMUS Tour”. With this work, you can experience such a rare song at the Nippon Budokan (which means that when combined with “FAST & FURIOUS”, you can experience all the songs of “The Law of Immoral” at the Budokan). The following year, in 2009, the Steel God came to Japan to perform at LOUD PARK, but KK Downing left the band at the end. The golden front line collapsed. There are rumors that they will perform together again at this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony, but now that Glenn Tipton is ill, this may be the last time that the three of them will stand side by side at the Budokan. This is a treasure album that allows you to fully experience such a memorable night with super direct sound. It is a superb audience recording of the performance at the Nippon Budokan on September 29, 2008. It is a sequel to the same recording artist collection as “BUDOKAN 2005 DAT MASTERS (Shades 1599)” and the sound is very similar. If the core is extremely thick, there is no sense of distance at all. Along with that, the details are also super clear, and it is a great recording that makes you wonder how they could record so directly at the Budokan. You can fully experience the delicious Budokan night with rare songs such as “Rock Hard, Ride Free”, “Between the Hammer and the Anvil”, and “Death” and “Eat Me Alive” that are only available on this tour.
