Description
“February 7, 2017: Nippon Budokan”. This day will be forever remembered as long as humanity does not forget the band JOURNEY. This work is the apex record of that historic night. The most anticipated album and the most eye-catching album of the highlights is here. Why is it such a decisive night? You already know (laughs). On this day, the two great masterpieces “ESCAPE” and “FRONTIERS” were completely reproduced on stage for the world premiere. This work is a live album that completely records that historic night. First of all, in order to record tonight when this monumental album will be released, let’s organize the lineup of the apex works to date by schedule.・February 1st: Osakajo Hall “OSAKA 2017” ・February 2nd: Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium ・February 4th: Xebio Arena Sendai “SENDAI 2017” ・February 6th: Nippon Budokan “BUDOKAN 2017 1ST NIGHT” ・February 7th: Nippon Budokan [This work] This is all 5 performances of the 2017 Japan tour. (Except for the Nagoya performance) The apex recording has been confirmed, and it can now be seen in the press album. JOURNEY shook the archipelago with a schedule of 5 performances in 7 days, 2 days off per week, but most of them were regular live performances with the best selection of songs. The masterpiece was only reproduced on “February 7th”. Usually, for any band, the latest recording of a visit to Japan is often listened to to preserve the memories of “the live I saw”. However, this work is not like that, and it is one that attracts the greatest attention that cannot be ignored even by those who have never been to one. Because it was such a historic night, many skilled recordists gathered at the Budokan that day. Recordings that said “I am the one!” are appearing one after another. We also reported it as the fastest as part of the 4-disc set “LIVE BUDOKAN 2017”, and it was very well received, with people saying “It’s not just fast!” and “It’s already the best”. However, the top is definitely this work. Its quality is a masterpiece worthy of the crown of the top. The vivid cheers are engraved with evidence of the audience recording, but the musical sound is bold, detailed and direct. Although it is supposed to be a spatial recording of the Nippon Budokan, it is a beautiful sound world worthy of being called “like a sound board”. Even the cutting of the guitar engraved with the riff is detailed, and the rhythm section has a vivid outline so that you can see the gaps between each sound. Arnel Pineda’s vocals and Jonathan Cain’s sparkling synths are recorded so vividly that you think “Isn’t this the line?” In terms of sound, if you ask “Which is the No. 1 tour?” you might wonder whether it’s “SENDAI 2017” or this work, but there’s no way to be confused about the content. After all, this work is a complete reproduction of a unique masterpiece. The set list is too special and cannot be enjoyed on any other live album. Some people may say, “The album reproduction is too predictable and boring…”, but this work is great because it is not just a reproduction concert. As mentioned above, this day was the world’s first challenge to reproduce an album. Moreover, it is scheduled to be broadcast as the first shot. The spirit put into it is different from that of any other reproduction show. On top of that, this work even makes you feel like you are “there” in the audience recording. When you write it like this, you might imagine a cheer that screeches out, but that’s not the case. The audience is fully aware of this reproduction, and they are intoxicated and immersed in each and every song, every moment. The cheers that rise between songs praise the band for taking on the challenge, and the voices singing the chorus together even make you feel “proud” to be present on this historic night. As I have said many times, this is a live album that allows you to immerse yourself in the feeling of “standing in it” even though it is a line-recorded sound. I think you have already understood the essence of this work, but just for the record, this work also has a little fun. First, guest singer: Travis Thibodeau. A mysterious support keyboardist and singer with an unknown background who is not called even during the member introduction. Of course, he is ignored because he is just a mystery, but in some songs he takes the lead with a powerful throat, and he has been a hot topic in various places as “Who is that guy!?!?!” His appearances are increased in this work. At other performances, he sang “Chain Reaction”, but at the reenactment night, he shows off his tremendous throat in three songs, “Lay It Down”, “After The Fall”, and “Frontiers” (instead, “Chain Reaction” is the Arnel version). Another fun song is “Troubled Child”. It’s a huge hit because it’s the world premiere of “FRONTIERS” played to completely recreate it, but it’s the first live performance, so it’s a mess at the beginning. The band immediately stops and starts over again, but even in this scene, the tension unique to the premiere is palpable. I don’t know if it will be broadcast at a later date, but this is also the real truth of this “historic night”. It’s a truly historic “reenactment night”. I don’t know if they will try again in the future, but at this point, it’s a one-of-a-kind night. It’s a masterpiece of a live album that you can be there and “experience” with the sound of the best seats. The only full album in the world with 100% real sound at the peak.
